It probably required sweetening the deal like the Walker trade, except Calgary didn't need cap space.

But I don't think the team is going to miss Frost/Farabee, it's not like they made much of a difference the last three years. They can be bad without them as easily as with them.

Interesting connection in the trade: Former Phantoms assistant and also interim head coach Kerry Huffman who is now Calgary Flames Director of Hockey Strategy. Was a pro scout for Calgary last year. Coached Frost for 41 games in 2019-20 season.

What I don't quite understand is the combination of ideas that they specifically acquired Kuzmenko for Michkov AND they have no intention at all to keep him. If that's why, wouldn't they want to keep him?

There's a certain comfort in knowing that an org will always screw it up.

The odds he doesn’t work out for any team really at this point, especially a team obsessed with Neanderthal intangibles - and Torts as HC… are high.

Bring in Matvei’s buddy, have both of them argue with John - and Kuzmenko can say goodbye at season’s end thanks to his UFA status.
