This is what our (my) post game Mika meme-ing led to:

It’s snowing. I made shepherds pie. It’s a hobbit life here.

goodrow has been the worst forward? Lol ok

so who are you taking out of the lineup I asked even though it’s absurd to think Goodrow would be playing on the fourth line

again who are you taking out of the lineup
I would take Reaves out of the lineup. I'm sure you would think that is absurd as well. I'm not sure why Goodrow playing on the 4th line is so insane, he's really not that good. And yeah all the metrics would suggest Goodrow has been the worst forward, although I suppose there is an argument to be made for a couple others. I'm sure if he had easier minutes in a 4th line role he would improve and he is better than Reaves overall.

I'm proud of this board for being mature of this loss. We'll lose more games, multiple more games, if they lose games like this it'll be a lot less painful. Also, it wasn't one of those put 45 shots on net losses where we dominated which is frustrating in its own right.

I don’t like how utterly incapable we looked for a good amount of the game, but at the same time we locked them down too for the most part. they scored on their pp and got a fluke goal. it was a well played game by both sides. I wish we had another 5 minutes in the game, as we got really close to tying it up several times.

Lundkvist is nowhere near where they thought he’d be

Nemeth is here to be the number 6 guy. They thought they were getting a Fox lite to put next to him

Lundkvist literally does nothing well. I mean nothing. They don’t even trust him really to be out there for offense because he’s shown little to none.

Of everybody on this team he would benefit the most from being sent down. There is a reason he is still with the team and Jones is in Hartford. I just don't know what is, lol.

You said they got away from things that they did last 3 games. Only thing that was different is who they played. They played well. Yes, they aren't perfect. I get it. I would like to see Jones also. I just thing he's going to be down at Hartford for a while longer. I trust Gallant to make the right decisions about what is best for this team.
Old habits crept back in. The 1st and 2nd were only Chytil, Gauthier and KAM. everyone else came out flat. We had a good 3rd. A strong finish doesn't negate the previous two.

We need to improve on things that are within our control. Hence the things I listed.

you’re right I do think that’s absurd

And Goodrow basically played top 6 mins for the Cup champs. You want to put him on the fourth line here after signing him to 6 year contract.

These aren’t your upper deck cards bro this is real life

Here's a dollar. Go buy a clue. He's done everything this team has asked. On pace for 35-40 points, can move up and down lineup and play multiple positions, does well on faceoffs and is good defensively.

He is very much not on pace for 35-40 points. In fact, he is scoring at the 2nd lowest rate of his career at 5v5. He is "on pace" for like 23 points unless you think he will be scoring 10 empty net goals this year?

Sometimes you just have to give credit to the other team. It's not only who you play but when you play them. Overall, this is a loss I can live with.

I'm counting all points, on pace for exactly 35 points. BTW he may score 10 ENG because he is trusted to protect a lead in the last minutes.

I don’t know what math the other guy was using but as of now 17 games in:

on pace for 34 pts while doing everything we need as a Swiss Army knife and leader on the team.

Physically, he’s not ready for nhl hockey. He doesn’t have the time and space he did over there on nhl ice, which I knew would be a problem. When the hitting begins, his play suffers.
Nemeth is also not that calming presence or ideal partner for him. He has trouble handling his own side, let alone when Lundkvist needs to lean on him for help.
I said Schneider would have been a better option since camp. At least physically, he’s further along then nils.
Lundkvist is still going to be a good D, but if they are leaving him up all season, I wish he had a better partner.

He was a drag on the team at the end. If he wasn’t out there we would’ve been better off.

He looks absolutely atrocious offensively right now. Literally everything about his game is off. This isn’t a snake bitten player who looks great but can’t get any luck, he looks terrible. Falling down, fanning on shots, mishandling pucks, a step slow all night, playing passively. He looks like another player. It’s brutal.
I feel like this is what infuriated Ottawa fans about him. Just a guess. I’m sure he’ll sort it out. Eventually.

Something smells fishy in Denmark, uh, Sweden. My gut feeling is they told him he has a spot on the team when he signed last off season and maybe they don't want him pulling a Kravs or Lias. Jones should be on the team and Lundkvist should be playing in the A. Schneider needs more time there as well. Nemeth is a perfectly fine 3rd pair Dman but he's not good enough to cover for somebody.
