I understand the concept of the tank, but I also understand the history of this franchise. We could go 0-82 and there's still no way you're not going to convince me we aren't falling all the way to #4 in the lottery and watching some fringe team scoop up the prize.
This team is fun, because you really don't know what is going to happen. They make a lot of mistakes. They take a lot of chances. They play a pretty entertaining game, because the plot twists are unexpected and by the end, you feel like you've been on a rollercoaster instead of the metro north. There's no harm in this as long as these guys are learning from it, and not repeating it. The learning years are supposed to be a little bumpy and we have a lot of guys learning at the same time. Overall though, I like this team.
I'm not really comfortable with this. I know it's similar to people comparing a game to a war, but I can do without this comparison and all the associated imagery.Pro-(playoff)-Lifers versus Season Aborters? Just trying to stimulate a healthy dialogue here...
Watching DuClair last night reminded me of his nickname in Quebec Juniors....Tony DDDD...well we have a new and better Tony DDDDD..go #77
I remember a certain poster on this board saying it multiple times during the off-season and training camp.No one said that.
I do! Even liked him against us in the playoffs of 2017 against Ottawa. Even some Sens fans were sad to see him go.Anyone else loving Claesson's game? He is so calm under pressure and always seems to make a smart outlet play with little space available. Reminds me so much of Stralman. I really like him and hope he sticks. I think he's our best defensive D-man and can be a real asset moving forward.
I don't know exactly what happened this last week, but I kind of like DeAngelo. I feel like the Grinch when He sees all the who's singing and celebrating despite his plans. It's a fragile like though. It's a fair weather like and can be turned back to the default hate setting if his defensive play reverts to last season's pinata style where it looked like someone blindfolded him and spun him dizzy when he was in his own zone.
Small steps.
Small, small steps.
They're not because that's not their mindset. So are they tanking or not? I’m confused.

They are a ****ty team playing ****ty though.
They're bottom 5 in driving possession in games within 1 (tied, 1 goal lead either way.) That isn't a long term recipe for success and always catches up with you.
They've been exceptional in a skills competition and have gotten pretty lucky lately.
I echoed this during the hours after the game. This team is not bad enough to tank to the bottom. So might as well just try and win.

Clarification on my post:
I meant the players and coaching staff.
For management it is trickier. Of course they have to keep an eye on the draft and the future. OTOH, they dont want to stunt this year's growth. Buying at the deadline to contend--assuming they're in PO position--is not the right move. Neither is gutting it, after the kids have found some success this year only to play the last 20 or so games with strangers again. That's basically a slap in the face to the kids.
If you legit want the team to lose effect game, why watch and why come here?

This is exactly right.
I can’t even think of the last time I thought Claesson made the wrong decision. A la Stralman, another understated Swede. Makes the right chip. Safe pass. Responsible help. On a team where Brendan Smith makes 2-3 egregious decisions per game, Claesson is solid and dependable in his role. Oh, and he’s just turning 26, cap friendly, with minimal wear on his tires.
They won't.
