Looks like his agent is trying to use the threat of NJ to get a better KHL contract but it would be great if Gritsyuk had a change of heart and wants to come over now.

I would think he’d want assurances he would end up in the NHL or loaned back to KHL if he came.
That's what I gather as well. Give him the Muk deal and leave him continue to expand his role in the KHL. This is a no brainer to get done from the Devils perspective.

Holy shit I hole we sign him. I thought we were going to have to wait 2 more full years. Give him the clause like we did with Shakir. I'd totally be down for that. KHL rinks will all he North American size by next year so he is used to playing on a smaller surface too.

Need the @Guadana stamp of approval on if this is legit. If it doesn't come from him, it's not true as far as I'm concerned.
So...

He is RFA. Avangard management said that they will offer him real deal. His agent said that for now Arseniy is trying to understand what is better for him to do next. Management said that desicion is on the Arseniy`s shoulders. Agent said that they are thinkg and will make decision later, may be if they will decide to stay for some years in KHL, they could not find solution with Avangard, and than some other KHL club can make a trade for his rights.

His agent isn`t the most pleasant person. But it is his job, like we know agents often act for the best for themselves.

So, we need to wait for official decision from Arseniy. This player of "maximum 50 NHL games ceiling" with "no chances ever coming over" has offer or some kind of offer from Devils, from Avangard, and he will get offer from other KHL teams if he will be available for. I think if he wants to travel now, he needs to understand clear path to and his potential place in the roster from Fitz. If Fitz can`t give him what he wants now, I think it`s logical for him to make decision to sign big massive 1-2-may be 3 years deal in KHL, learn more on a better level to start right from the start in NHL after and burn more years. Because I think he has no interest to spend some time in a worser league.
Therefore, most likely at the moment everything will depend on many factors - the agent's interest in obtaining maximum profit for himself, communication with Devils about his potential role in the near future, Arseny's personal feeling about his own readiness to move to a new level. Let's see how things unfold.

thanks for the insider info as always!

if he came here now or next season, it'd be so perfect. considering cap situation, having a potential top 6 player at an ELC would be amazing for our competing

Thanks a lot Guadana! Do you think there’s a possibility of him signing with us and being loaned back to the KHL?

I don’t think signing him and loaning him out really benefits us and him, unlike the Muk situation.

Muk was young enough to have an ELC that could slide when he signed. He pocketed the burned first year, we loaned him the next and he still had two more years left on his ELC.

At 22, Gritsyuk can only get a 2 year ELC. If he’s not coming over he’s better off getting a KHL contract and I don’t see us wanting to burn through his ELC that quickly.
