If NJ signs both Meier and Bratt I expect they won’t bring back Wood or Tatar. Haula is a center and I’d expect if they have to pick one UFA it’s him since he is likely less expensive than the other two at a more important position. That will open at least one wing spot if Yukky wants to come to North America.

Meier Haula Mercer
Bratt Jack Palat
Boquist Hischier Holtz
Xxxxx McLeod Bastian
Lazar

I could see Boq on the 4th line and Grits earning a 3rd line spot too. There's room for him if he wants it. Grits-Hischier-Holtz or Grits-Haula-Holtz.

Once the Assistant GM basically discussed Gritsyuk as if he was re-signing with the KHL one more time and then coming over, I assumed that’s what was happening.

His agent is negotiating and using the other team he can sign with as threat is a negotiating technique.

The team either likes or accepts the idea of Gritsyuk coming over as a more developed player with a better chance of producing right away.

I would prefer he gets a 1 year deal, so we can get the party started over here faster, but there doesn’t seem to be many of those so I’m bracing for a longer one.

ELC then loan...why is this so difficult. He will make more money.

How does it help us though? He only qualifies for 2 year ELC.

We signed Muk and burned the 1st year because his ELC would slide.

It sounds like they’re discussing a 2 year deal, which was the most likely number. The Devils seem fine with him coming over as a finished product.

That's an interesting position by the team. We will pay you but only if you find a new agent who we can deal with and it is the agent reporting this. I'll be curious what the back and forth is like after this.

This is the same agent using the NHL as leverage for Gritsyuk's teammates Tkachyov and Tolchinsky.

Imo, Gritsyuk looks to be weary of spending any time in the AHL; but wants a relatively good paycheck if he is to stay in the KHL.

Could be huge, if rumor from his agent about "Gritsyuk most likely going to NHL" will be truth.
I still think that it`s an agent games and he will sign KHL deal - it will help him to cash more money now and after and make better developing process, but will see.
(again, I think it`s agent games and he is trying to make more money from Avangard)

I hear Gritsyuk's agent just went to the bookstore and bought "How to Squeeze Every Last Nickel From a Hockey Team and Make It About You Instead of Your Client" by Bratt's agent.

I feel like there’s actually a chance he could challenge for a spot next season. Hopefully we can sign him.
