If you are talking about Slaf, yes that year was weak too but hes still much better than Lafreniere overall
To be fair, the 2022 draft was thought of, at the time, to be weak and with a polarized consensus at the top of the draft (unlike Lafrenière being a no-brainer).
Leaving the draft (in Montreal nonetheless !) with a game breaker in Hutson and a 1st line winger in Slafkovsky is pretty good in a vacuum. It's even better knowing we had no certainty of having a game breaker at 1st OA. If Beck, Engstrom and the others amount to anything, that's just a bonus.
