If you are talking about Slaf, yes that year was weak too but hes still much better than Lafreniere overall

To be fair, the 2022 draft was thought of, at the time, to be weak and with a polarized consensus at the top of the draft (unlike Lafrenière being a no-brainer).

Leaving the draft (in Montreal nonetheless !) with a game breaker in Hutson and a 1st line winger in Slafkovsky is pretty good in a vacuum. It's even better knowing we had no certainty of having a game breaker at 1st OA. If Beck, Engstrom and the others amount to anything, that's just a bonus.

They also got unlucky and drafted 1st overall in a weak year

A pick they should have never had. Remember they won the lottery with terrible odds. I don't want to bash them because they're apart of the habs and have done a decent job so far but Gorton and Bobrov were terrible at drafting/developing with the Rangers

The Habs have their fate in their own hands. They may very well choke but I don t think they should put their hopes in all other teams chosing every game ;)

...but would it not help? would we not clinch faster with other teams losing? lol

also, who said anything about the habs players putting their hopes in other teams losing? im cheering for that... but never said anything about what the Habs players should or should do... so i dont get replys like this but, I am well aware of where the Habs are at... and i feel i can easily cheer for both the Habs to win and the teams chasing to lose.. no? lol
