I'd definitely take a chance on Hickey, add to the depth of the blue line and see if he can progress under Eakins .. He's not that old that he can't make an impact

Hamill also intrigues me for the Marlies

I'm pretty sure you can only take a guy off of waivers if you keep him in the NHL. You can't just snake somebody they're trying to send down to their farm team and put him on your farm team.

there are some major red flags around Evander Kane

Talent is undeniable, guy could be the next Jarome Iginla/Corry Perry type scoring winger with grit.

IMO he's been given way too much slack in Winnipeg, having a coaching staff willing to crack the whip and being in a market with more media scrutiny might help him out.

I think he was treated too much of a saviour or 'crown prince' of sorts in ATL when he was drafted.

Pretty sure you can but they'd have to clear waivers again.

I think you can claim a guy if you want.

But if you decide to send him down he's gotta go through waivers again.

Sure you can, happens a lot. They just have to go through waivers again before you send them down.

What do you guys think of targeting Jamie Benn?

Word out of Dallas is that he is not close to signing a contract, and is currently not at Stars camp. If Dallas doesn't wanna pony up, maybe we can throw an offer-sheet or trade for him? He is a legit #1 IMO. TONS of skill, young (only 23), and an absolutely perfect match for Kessel.

I would offer a straight up swap.

Kessel for Benn.

There is your franchise 1st line C.

:)

more i think of it O'Reilly should be the target

would probably cost Gardiner + or something to that extent

I would definitely offer sheet him. I think he makes us alot better.

Signing him for 6mill per would mean we give up a 1st, 2nd and 3rd... which to me is not as bad as the Kessel deal.

Hard to see Dallas not moving him though.

I wonder where JVR slots in now? I hope he isn't pushed down the depth chart. How do you guys picture the starting roster?

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Kulemin - Grabs - JVR/Mac?
Lombardi - Connolly - Kadri/Frattin?
Brown - McClement - Komarov

Steckel, Orr, Hamilton.

We gotta move someone, IMO. I know I'm forgetting someone. At least make space for players in the AHL. We gotta let guys like Ross and Ryan play regularly, even if it's 4th line detail. It doesn't help us of them to have them play every 3rd or 4th game in the AHL.

Did Dreger just tweet Bozak + 1st for luongo?! Just checked doesn't seem to be there what's going on hahaha

I'd trade Gardiner for him. I like his strong style, sort of a PF-lite. Good D game too, no? Perfect if you still want to let Kessel run the offence.

Does he play center though? He's listed as a winger on NHL and Hockeydb

I would love ROR.

He's a year younger than Gardiner, is GREAT defensively, and led his team in scoring last year.

They must have gotten fooled by a fake account! I don't even have twitter haha damn it!

Maybe he's pulling your leg.

I recommend twitter to anyone interested in NHL talk and rumours. It's so easy to set up, you can search for anything you want, although that's how you get what your friend says, and it's the fastest source for real NHL rumours. Dregger, Kypreos and Bobby Mac are the best sources. I also just found out that ISS has been tweeting quick prospect info on the upcoming drafts top 30. Good quick info.

On my tabs, it tells you when anything new is there. looks like this, sortof--> [(2)Twitter] this tells you there is 2 new tweets to see.

And BTW, Rob Delaney and a lot of great comedians are on there and are a blast. Bubbles, Dean Murdoch from Fubar. It's awesome.

If they have an internal budget I'd go with Duchene/ROR and move Stastny but if for some reason they view it otherwise I hope Nonis is inquiring about that situation

I'm not interested in selling our great assets for more 2nd liners, even if they bring everything that R'OR brings.

I would be hesitant on ROR. Could be a kulemin type situation.

How so?

Kulemins break-out year was when he was 24/25.

ROR was when he was 20/21.

Kessel was 20 when he broke out offensively, but that was with Savard feeding him the puck. Kessel was 4th on team scoring. ROR was 1st in team scoring at that age.

Kessel was just hyped more because he was a high draft pick.
