dammit
macintyre would have been to use vs Boston :fight:

Orr is good enough, IMO. He handled and embarssed Lucic. He needs to be a platoon guy for us. Ride the pines other then the odd game. Get in 20-40 games. Practise skating drills and defensive assignments. I really like having Orr with the leafs, and i don't see a reason he was sent down. He does more then Rosehill did.

This.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lombardi play a game between Kessel and Lupul. Lombardi is one of the only guys that can keep up with Kessel, and PERHAPS out skate him.

I'm sure Apolo Anton Ohno could as well, why don't we sign him and slot him into our #1 C position?

Lombardi is beyond trash, he shouldn't be anywhere near the top 9 this year.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Today's waivers: E Oberg (TB). G Desbiens, P Mullen (VAN). S Legein, D Meckler, M-A Cliche, T Hickey (LAK). J Pearce, F Pare (DET).

F Wathier, M Fortunas, L Gazdic, T Morin, T Petersen, T Sloan (DAL). S Backman, N McIver, M Watkins, T Wishart (NYI).

More waivers: M Ford, D Syvret (PHI). B Lerg, S Sullivan, B Thomas (COL). P-L Letourneau-Leblond (ANA). T Eckford, H Jessiman, N Lawson (OTT

And WSH: R Potulny, Z Hamill, M Clackson, D Sabourin, P McNeill, G Stafford, K Marshall.

A few names that could be useful if we need depth. Tomas Hickey being on there is definitely surprising.

Similar to trying track stars as wide receivers in the nfl?? I like it!!

Lombardi was a good player who got hurt too much until last season...why not give him A GAME before we throw him on the trash heap for this season

Yep. That's the one worry people have when trading for or drafting goalie prospects. It's pretty much starter or bust. Forwards can be effective in secondary roles, so can D, but not really goalies.

But getting a starting goalie would change this teams fortunes much more than getting a 2nd line agitator, so IMO it would probably be worth the risk. Especially given our depth on the wing at both the NHL level and in the prospect pool.

Agreed. That's why I see no risk if trading Kadri for Lu. I think Gardiner still has top pairing potential, but I don't think Kadri is any better then Grabovski. Who is only slightly better then Connolly, who is about the potential of Colborne, who could be slightly better then Lombardi, etc, etc.... you get my point. A dime a dozen.

If you have a shot at Lu, and this team is as it is, being a 1G away from making some real noise, then you do it with out flinching. I wonder what the asking price really is. Maybe it is Gardiner. Maybe they want a 1st. Or maybe I'm way off and the brains in MLSE see Kadri as a 1st liner. I don't anymore. Like I say, I do like him and if he is around, they should really make a spot for his skill and assets on the 2nd line. But I'd move any of our 2nd liners for a proven, legit 1G. Grabs, Kule, Kadri, whatever.

You assume that Orr, willingly or otherwise, can even drop the mits still given his recent string of head injuries.

Even if the guy necessarily WILL drop the gloves and continue to play his role, does that absolve the team of responsibility in letting him effectively vegetize himself?

The way I see it, the organization may be doing Orr more of a favour than any of us realize in giving him the opportunity to play minutes and be part of a winning club in the AHL, and help bring our young guys along, rather than dropping mits against the biggest and meanest heavyweights the NHL has to offer.

He's not that bad and he's proven it in his career. In the right situation, he is a decent 2C/W. We just haven't had a spot for him with Grabovski, Kulemin and Mac playing well as a 2nd unit. If he gels with Kessel, I think it's beneficial to us. I'm not a fan of Bozak and is mediocre game.

True enough. I didn't think of that. He has taken a fair share of KO's in his career. He swings like Rocky with a fist like Drago and a chin like Adrian.

Bozak + 2nd for Luongo
Kadri + Blacker + Holzer + 3rd for Getzlaf

Connolly and Lombardi sent down or waived or traded for anything

---------

Lupul - Getzlaf - Kessel
JVR - Grabovski - Kulemin
MacArthur - McClement - Frattin
Komarov/MacIntyre - Steckel - Brown

Gardiner - Phaneuf
Liles - Komisarek
Gunnarsson - Franson

Luongo
Reimer

uh oh,, guys I don't how truthfull this is but I heard one of the Insiders this morning on TSN radio stating Jets have inquired about JVR recently. Maybe, now that Burke isn't the GM, other GMs may see this as a oppurtunity?

I can't agree with you.

Lombardi's had one good year. He's all speed, not particularly great hands and no physical presence whatsoever.

Bozak offers so much more in all areas of the ice. He pk's, strong on his skates and has good chemistry with Phil. Certainly not a #1 C, but much more valuable than Lombardi.

I think Lombardi gets moved before the end of training camp.

I predict that Lombardi and Connolly aren't leafs by saturday. One of them could be a marlie.

Lol I don't know why you would worry.

JVR has size and speed, something in short order on this team. Nonis isn't looking to move him.

Unless E Kane, Pavelec, Enstrom, Byfuglien or maybe Schiefele is coming back... the guy is a leaf. (All highly unlikely returns).

Thomas HIckey on waivers is interesting. hasn't been able to crack a deep LA d corp but was a 4th overall pick

is he another Barker or can this kid play?

Leafs obviously don't need d but if he has talent and needs a chance it makes other pieces available

Bold prediction! I'm curious who we would have to replace them. I personally think someone is moved. I'd like to see at least one spot opened up for a young guy like Kadri. Or even Reilly. I see no need to send him to the sewer of the WHL now that his team is out.

Not really... he has cracked 50 points one time in his career. Grabo is a good 2C, Lombardi is not. He is finished, Bozak is by far the better player. Bozak has good chemistry with Kessel and Lupul, Lombardi would just skate in a straight line with the puck, and either take a low % shot from the outside or lose it in the offensive zone. Bozak last year had more points than Lombardi has had in all but one of his years in the NHL.

elliot had the juicy reg season stats:

elliot 1.56 .940 23 10 4 9so
halak 1.97 .925 26 12 7 6so

i bet reimer and scrivens would have decent stats too playing for hitchcock's blues

I'd definitely take a chance on Hickey, add to the depth of the blue line and see if he can progress under Eakins .. He's not that old that he can't make an impact

Hamill also intrigues me for the Marlies

Bozak is WAY better than the figure skater.

you'd think grabovsky could adjust his game (and kessel) and make it work
he's easily or best center, and deserves the best wingers

lupul grabovsky kessel
jvr bozak kulemin
frattin mclement komarov
whatever whatever brown

there are some major red flags around Evander Kane

who cares... that **** is blown up.... is the NHL that soft where a player cant take a pictue holding up money.. the guy is a great talent he can crash and bang, and snipe
