I dont see it happening TBH, as much as I'd want it. I love his attitude can't stand his defense, drives me insane everytime.

I hope if he is moved Kadri gets a good shot, however if he isn't moved hopefully connolly and lambo?

i think Mac gets a pretty bad wrap from fans when he really shouldnt. his defensive game isnt that bad. he does his job. hes had career years playing here. hes got good speed, can dish the puck and works hard every night, and the only other players you can really say works as hard are Grabo and Lupul. He is a useful player on this team and i think given the chance, he would do a good job with Grabo and JVR and i think that line has a chance to do some damage, even more so than kessel and lupul. if you want to talk about defensive liabilities, the biggest one we have is kessel.

He's REALLY undervalued by non-leaf fans around here. I dunno, guy has a 60 pt season and he's worth your top prospect and your 1st around here. But if the guy is a Leaf, he's just dismissed as being the recipient of luck playing on a bad team.

Mac is a very good 2nd line player, and I think we should get a 1st + prospect from him at the deadline if we decided to move in a different direction. That may be a better option considering the talent in the upcoming draft.

Macarthur can be a good addition as a 3rd line winger on a playoff bound team, back to back 20 goal seasons, he's a Higgins type class player that is solid defensively. 5 on 5 he actually average less goals against per 20 mins of ice time than Grabo.

I agree, Mac is a very good complimentary player .. And I wouldn't have a problem with the Leafs keeping him if the Leafs weren't so undersized and non-physical in their top 9 .. Unfortunately holding the other roster spots relatively constant, his spot in the line up is better served to a bigger physical player with some skill, or a player of the same size that has a higher ceiling (like Kadri)

Kadri is going to have the opportunity to take that spot.

Carter Ashton is close, probably next year. He's probably pencilled in as our 3rd line Left or Right winger in the very near future.

From Friedman's 30 thoughts:

12. Wonder if Phoenix is sniffing around Toronto's Matthew Lombardi. He skated there during the lockout and apparently has good chemistry with some of the Coyotes. Maybe there's a fit. Probably wouldn't cost a ton and might be a good change for everyone.

I always thought Lombardi back to Phoenix or even Nashville could be possible. I would look for this around the trade deadline though. I think Carlyle wants to see what he can bring after having more time to prepare for the season. He was terrible last year.

Also Getzlaf and Perry will sit with Murray this week about extensions and what not. Seems like Getzlaf really wants to stay in Anaheim, while Perry is a bit more likely to bolt.

Well, Getzlaf won a Cup there. I believe they have a goalie as well, and don't have a Carlyle.

Were there that high of expectations of him at draft? I thought he has been an extremely solid player so far in his short career.

Voracek has had an alright career so far. He's slowly getting the North American game a bit better each year. But he was drafted 7th overall and it comes with the stigma of being drafted that high.

Its much like the expectations that came with Kadri being drafted so high.

Tangradi & Sundqvist

This is a good offer, I'd be ok with this. Would also love to have Orpik worked in somehow, but that's pipe-dreaming for sure. Unless Pitts holds a similar valuation of Kulemin as we do the offers we'll get for him will be low, hense why teams are inquiring.

Same reason why Colorado probably gets lots of inquiries about Duchene over the last little while.

Kulemin to Pittsburgh is just not going to happen unless it's an overpayment..

Kulemin and Malkin do have insane chemistry though. I think he could be a 60-65 point guy with Malkin IMO.

Tangradi has the be one of the most overrated 'prospects' or young players I've read on HF. Nothing against him but he's really not that good.

I think Kulemin is a bit overrated himself but at least he can say he scored 30 goals in the NHL 2 seasons ago. Last year was a pretty bad year for him so his value dipped.

In the end, I don't think Pittsburgh and Toronto make good trading partners right now. The Leafs probably would need a top 6 center prospect or young player with potential for Kulemin. I'm not sure the Penguins have that.

Ohhhhh, I don't know about that.

Having watched him extensively, and knowing that his game would work GREAT with a guy like Biggs or a guy like Kadri, I would DEFINITELY be interested in Tom Kuhnhakl for our 2nd/3rd line, and Simon Despres on the back end. They have some pieces, but the deals would have to have a little more involved to make them work.

Despres would look GREAT next to Gardiner.

Phaneuf Rielly
Gardiner Despres
Blacker Finn

I like....

True, Leafs probably wouldn't say no to a young defenseman that is NHL ready like Despres. I'm not sure if the Penguins would want to though. They aren't exactly bleeding out defenseman like Despres either (that are close to NHL ready).

Leafs probably aren't worried about young defensemen, especially if the cost is one of the forwards with size, and the defenseman wouldn't have a spot on the team anyway.

Sportsnet reports the #Leafs have other goalie options to pursue besides Luongo, such as Halak of the #STLBlues and Bernier of the #LAKings

Exactly.

Kulemin is here for the long haul. He's so valuable, and is a rare commodity on our current team.

He has the potential to score 30 goals consistently, which we saw 2 years ago, and if he's not scoring can be a valuable checking guy. I think Kulie is a candidate for long-term extension.
