Speculation: 12/13' Trades/Proposals: Trade market is officially open.(LEAFS)

Voracek hasn't lived up to what he was suppose to be. Simmonds is a good complimentary player, but still not the piece the Leafs need to replace Kessel and Brayden Schenn could be that guy the Leafs need to build around, but you never know.

I don't get why all of these Kessel trade offers come up on the board. If you trade Kessel, you open up a huge hole in the offense. A lot of the shots and scoring chances ran through him last year and if you are going to rely on Lupul or MacArthur, then you are in trouble.

Were there that high of expectations of him at draft? I thought he has been an extremely solid player so far in his short career.

I doubt it. They are very very high on Couturier right now. They'd probably only trade him for one of the best defensemen in the league at this point.

We're not trading Kessel. This team doesn't need DEPTH. This team needs more high end talent. It needs a goalie and probably a decent skating shut down d man, and HIGH end TALENT. We don't need more 2nd or 3rd line guys. We need top line players. Why are we going to trade Phil Kessel and push our whole team back 3 years and go to one of the things this team has been doing poorly? This team SUCKS at developing players and it doesn't make sense to trade for players who aren't ready.. You guys need to settle down. Phil isn't leaving.

Gibson, Rakell, Karlsson, Etem, and Palmieri all interest me, but not nearly as much as Minnesota. I see them as a team that would be more interested anyways.

They certainly have some very very interesting pieces.

I doubt minnesota can afford kessel though, they already have Healtey, Parise and Suter going against their cap, they'll prolly use their young stars to make sure they don't increase that.

I thought Versteeg looked terrible here when he and Kessel were on the same team, perhaps Dineen can work wonders, but I thought that was a strange combo to retry since it didn't work the first time. Think Weiss may test the FA market this summer, I'm hoping we make a bid for him and Zajac if he also doesn't re-sign.

I also dont think he was the right fit for us, I still liked Versteeg.

I want to give weiss a shot but I am not so sure about Zajac, I think he might stay although I prefer Zajac much more than weiss.

And some of these proposals are quality proposals, not 3rd line guys. We could be like NJ and let Parise go for nothing, but are we anywhere near reaching the cup finals as the Devils were? Don't think you will find one poster even on the Leafs board that is that optimistic. Plus NJ didn't pay a heavy price for him as we did for Kessel. Fail on 2 accounts if we let him go for nothing.

The man that brought him here is gone, if the Leafs are a mess at the deadline, missing 5 playoffs in a row since Kessel has been a Leaf, playing for a Julien like coach, will he want to re-sign? If we wait till this summer, that's really taking the leverage out of Nonis's hand. NTC kicks in July and teams are not as desperate to deal without the playoff and cup incentives.

I can't see Kessel being all that excited in Toronto if all of the above happens.

Yes, but at the same time sitting Macarthur for him might not be the smartest move because it will hurt Mac's trade value. I want Nonis to ship out Mac before Saturday, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I dont see it happening TBH, as much as I'd want it. I love his attitude can't stand his defense, drives me insane everytime.

I hope if he is moved Kadri gets a good shot, however if he isn't moved hopefully connolly and lambo?

Disappointing? Who expected this team to do good? Who expected Phil to be as good as he is? He wants to play in a hockey market and he's got friends who back him up here. I just don't see him moving.
