Preds boards have been throwing around the idea of Wilson+Watson+1st for Kessel if you all decide to go full-rebuild. Thoughts?

Secondly, how movable is JML? Preds would be interested if the price was right.

It's a pretty good offer, but not an overpayment, which is what we'd need to move Kessel. Sure would be sweet to get Watson though. Loved him when he was here in London.

And I think JML could definitely be had if Nonis got the right offer. Not really sure what he'd cost at this point though, whether it be just a draft picks/propsects, or a defensive dman.

Same, I'd just be scared about how much offensive upside the guy has and whether or not last season was so successful because of a contract year or fluke.

He had an abysmal sh% and was used mostly defensively. If anything, it's amazing he was able to put up those numbers. Especially at his age. He is only going to get better.

Actually he played a ton of time with staal and that's all he was able to amass. Playing as a regular 3rd liner those numbers would be considerably worse. Guy is bust city ala kadri. We didn't "give up" on him too early. Those so called 3rd liners you speak of come a dime a dozen.

At the end of the day, who is the greater asset today, Tlusty or Paradis?

I rest my case.

Dreger: Expect Deals Tommorow

For those asking, NHL GM's are still forbidden from negotiating trades until players ratify CBA. Expect dealing when allowed. #TSN

Any predictions on moves made tomorrow? Do we make any?

If anything, we clear up some space up front to allow a couple marlies/prospects make the team.

Personally would like to have Kadri, Frattin and Komarov on the opening day roster over Steckel, Connolly and Lombardi.

I think we do something but whatever it is I bet it's something that will come out of nowhere. We'll be posting WTH never saw that coming?

Check the ridiculous trade thread thats stickied It's usually an entertaining read.

There will be a lot of cap space moves happening. GMs are going to be a bit panicky with some of the stupid deals they've put out there..

IIRC Bobby mac said it might go into Sunday morning before the MoU is complete. He didnt seem to expect anything to happen until then. He did say hes being hearing lots of trade and UFA talk though, so expect a lot to happen when it does.

Frankly I'd be thrilled if those were the only moves we made. Nonis seems to have an extended leash, lets use it and get the kids in there. Let the chips fall where they may.

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Kadri
Kulemin-Connolly-Frattin
Komarov-McClemment-Brown

Phaneuf-Gunnar
Liles-Gards
Rielly(5 games)-Komisarek/Holzer

Reimer
Scrivens

Trade Mac, and Lombardi(Phoenix maybe?).

I think one of Connolly or Lombardi gets traded next week, and we retain some of their salary.

These guys won't get much of a shot this season if we're keeping Bozak and Grabovski, and could be useful to other teams. Teams like Phoenix, Nashville and Calgary seem to like having depth and don't rely on top heavy rosters. I could see one of these teams picking up Lombardi or Connolly for a mid pick or prospect.

ah.....it's like christmas eve
lots of presents tomorrow

I want Luongo, I want Getzlaf, I want Komi gone, I want Lombardi gone. Too much to ask?

Only realized today that we no longer have Burke to make Perry + Getzlaf want to come here as UFA if they make it that far. Well we still have him...but not as much.

Hall scares me. He hasn't managed a full season yet (I don't think) and his style of play leaves him prone to getting laid out/injured.

Connolly I don't think we would have to. He still plays solidly, great shot blocker and stuff, just hasn't lived up to his contract. Only 1 year left and teams can spend up to 70m which hardly any have.

Someone like Chicago has 3.5m in cap space. They could quite easily find room for Connolly and they have had some center issues recently. Connolly, if traded, I think will surprise people with the package he returns.

Even if we did 50/50 on salary with Connolly & Lombardi and retained a 4-7 draft pick accompanied I would be ecstatic. Having some spots open up on our bottom six for players who deserve and more importantly can play a bottom 6 role would be to a huge benefit.

I don't want Luongo if it isn't for a fair pricing, no Kadri, no Gardiner, Frattin would be tops of young players i'd give up. What would be great about the pick up would be the fact that with him it would make our team more attractive to the abundance of free agents coming up, and with salary to play with, we for once might have a better chance of getting the one at the top of our list, versus the second choice of Connolly's.

I would love it if the Leafs could move Kessel... I don't know if that's the package i'd want or the right to deal with, but I'm not a Kessel fan at all. I think there would probably be some better options out there if he was being shopped.

I like JML, before he got hurt he was one of the better d-men on the team. That being said, are you basing your statement off of the Preds fans opinions?

I wouldn't mind if we kept Connolly. He's not as bad as some fans say. I think Kulemin-Connolly-Frattin could be an effective line. Strong defensively and could chip in offensively. All 3 could fill in in the top 6 if we have injuries.

I agree. It will be a shame if his career is ruined by injury.

Indeed. He needs to learn to control his bull-in-a-china shopness. Even though that sounds really stupid because i love players like that (nichuskin in this draft for example), you need to be careful. 82 game schedule vs men, much bigger than you considering hall isnt that big... you need to know when to turn it on and off.

Exactly what scouts were afraid of in his draft year.

I hope he stays healthy. Fun player to watch.
