Interesting idea, but as you said, unlikely scenario. I assume they thought of that and would have a rule preventing that though.
Look at the scenario described in my last post.
During his 8th year, his cap hit would be $3.7M more than the salary paid.
So the cap hit for the last two years would be $1.3M per year.
question.
If he plays a 9th year, his cap hit would be $4.3M more than his actual pay. Does that mean that the Leafs would then get an extra $1.7M for their cap in 2021-2022?
