I think they are both major issues that need to be addressed yesterday.

Maybe, but they are still lesser issues to the real issues. Calling up AHL players to replace the kids is not going to help the NHL team at all.

Me too. He and Lafreniere just both looked like such sure things in their predraft years. And they get here and look like this. It's dumbfounding, astonishing, and incredible at the same time.

There's something really, really wrong here.

I said this last night, but it's hard to believe that it's a coincidence. It can happen that a high pick doesn't work out or busts, but for it to possibly happen to both Kakko (#2 pick) and Laf (#1) means it can't just be a coincidence most likely.

I'm not completely worried yet, but Kakko is now in his 3rd season and Laf in year 2.

But the goal shouldn’t be short term success. The kids going down could be good for them. A losing season being the price for actual development from our prized prospects is far preferable to a middling season and generational busts.

Agreeeeeddddd. I think it's really obvious to anyone watching, except maybe NYR management, that this vet core will not win much unless the heralded kids become real players. If the kids fail, the whole thing fails.

Have people still not realized that we shouldn’t give two damn shots about how the NHL team finishes this year, or any year, before it has firmly established Cup winning caliber talent?

Oh no, we are gonna be a bottom 3 team instead of merely one stuck in perpetual mediocrity.

Salary retention is a thing you know and i was simply going off an example of the type of player they need. What do you expect trouba to do? Honestly? Hes good at defense, not amazing and plays like a 2nd pair d. The problem is his offense is very meh. On a team like the jets, they had offense up the wazoo. We have no puck moving d rn save for fox. What would be your play?
He's good at defense except he's very mistake prone and he has no mobility. There's a reason why he's 8 mil Mayfield and he's trending toward 8 mil Tinner.

Even if Lafreniere and Kakko pan out we are short probably 2 more top 6 caliber forwards. Our forward depth is lousy. We are deep only with bottom 6 grit guys who don’t make a difference.

The people that still believe in this iteration of The New York Rangers are on obscene amounts of copium

Our issue is, we have a bunch of really high paid veteran players whose egos can't handle the idea of the team relying on the kids instead of them. The ownership and management may also be having the same issue...

Fox and Shesterkin are the only players who should be safe. Drury should be working the phones aggressively.
While I agree with you my question is who does Drury even have to trade? All of the so called core pieces are now locked up long term. Can’t trade Kreider, Mika, Panarin, Strome ok but that leaves a void at 2C unless Drury has the answer in another deal because Chytil isn’t the answer at 2C. Goodrow ain’t going anywhere, Blais they need more guys like him so he’s not going, maybe Chytil for an established center? Laf and Kakko aren’t going anywhere for obvious reasons unless Drury gets ballsy. Hunt sucks and has no value, same for Goat, Rooney should be kept, same for Reaves. On d outside of Lundkvist I don’t see anyone else getting dealt.

That's really not accurate. If Laf and Kakko pan out and you have Zib and Panarin that's more high end forward talent than the 94 team had when we won, by a lot. You don't need 4 high scoring forwards to win a cup. You need 1 or 2 elite forwards who can score when it matters most. Who can put the team on their backs and lead. And then you have secondary scoring. Whats much harder? Thinking you can win a cup with a committee of 5 or 6 players who are not elite franchise altering players.

I would argue we have Adam Fox. He's the only one who has shown he will rise to the occasion in big moments and is elite. But our forwards have yet to display a similar trait.

Moreover, my attitude about sending all the kids down wouldn’t just be “where we finish isn’t important, long term success and developing this kids is”… my attitude would be “if you want to play pond hockey, if you feel you’ve gotten yourself paid and you can now coast, if you feel like you’re too good to have a newbie on your line or you ‘need’ a garbage man on your line to do the ‘work’ for you… here you go.”

Kreider - Zib - Goodrow
Panarin - Strome - Gettinger
Blais - Rooney - Hunt
Brodzinski - McKegg - Reaves
Lindgren - Fox
Bitetto - Trouba
Nemeth - Tinordi

Your boyfriend Strome’s not getting re-signed. You can either figure out how to play like you give a shit, and next year you can have Laf, Kakko, Kravstov, Chytil, Barron, Miller, Jones, Schneider and Lundkvist join you, or you can be primadonas and submit your NTC lists.

And the Rangers skate off with their nuts in their hands.
They have nuts???
Mangiapane runs into Ryan Reaves and all the Flames players on the ice go after Reaves and to add to that a fight breaks out between Tinordi and Gudbranson.
Fox gets cross checked in the head by Klyington and no response.
Hope Dolan stayed up late and watched this one.

This team should be collectively embarrassed for not giving Tkachuk the business after showing them up on that 6th goal.

There's no pride. The room is just like the GM. Milquetoast and apathetic, just like our GM. Bet you last night and tonight's games won't ruin his weekend.
You had another post questioning the Rangers inability to develop talent, I’m too lazy to find it so I’m quoting this one. It shouldn’t shock anyone that we can’t develop forwards when Jed f***ing Ortmeyer and Tanner f***ing Glass run the player development program. Start there, fire their asses and bring in skilled coaches.
