Whys it even matter hed be doing nothing like Kakko and Laf rn
It couldn't be worse than what Laf and Kakko are doing right now, which is nothing.

yeah it's not 2019 anymore, it seems obvious this core group that the FO chose to ride with is not going to be good enough. Doesn't help when they've made some terrible personnel mistakes either.Have people still not realized that we shouldn’t give two damn shots about how the NHL team finishes this year, or any year, before it has firmly established Cup winning caliber talent?
Oh no, we are gonna be a bottom 3 team instead of merely one stuck in perpetual mediocrity.
Hed be doing way better than them lol he has swagger and isn’t a vanilla boring player who can’t skateWhys it even matter hed be doing nothing like Kakko and Laf rn
The 4 points in 20 games last season says otherwise. He’d probably have like a goal and assist rn (which granted is more then kakko rn lmao)Hed be doing way better than them lol he has swagger and isn’t a vanilla boring player who can’t skate
1 player is not fixing this team, unless he's McDavid. And I doubt even he could change things, by looking how the Oilers have done during the previous years. It couldn't be worse than what Laf and Kakko are doing right now, which is nothing.
39 shots against Geo last night.
37 shots against Shesty tonight.
This is a team that leaves their goalies out to dry night after night.
This is no phenomena and has been glaring thus far this season. Not only are they giving up more than average amounts of shots, they are often near the bottom of below of shots for.
Don't forget Cherepanov that had a heart attack and died in a game in 2008.Posted this in the Kakko thread:
Fun fact: If Kakko busts, that'll be 9 straight top 10 picks that have either busted or had their relationship with the team demo'd.
Manny Malhotra (1998), Pavel Brendl (1999), Jamie Lundmark (1999), Dan Blackburn (2001), Al Montoya (2004), Dylan McIlrath (2010), Lias Andersson (2017), Vitali Kravtsov (2018).
Arguably 11 straight depending on your view of Nicklas Sundstrom (1993) (add him and Jayson More (1987) to the list). 10 or 12 straight if Lafreniere busts too.
The streak ends there... With Brian f***ing Leetch (1986).

This should be the wakeup call for GG. I wanted him to blend it like 6 games ago, but now something has to give. There better be some new lines at the next practice.
That's really not accurate. If Laf and Kakko pan out and you have Zib and Panarin that's more high end forward talent than the 94 team had when we won, by a lot. You don't need 4 high scoring forwards to win a cup. You need 1 or 2 elite forwards who can score when it matters most. Who can put the team on their backs and lead. And then you have secondary scoring. Whats much harder? Thinking you can win a cup with a committee of 5 or 6 players who are not elite franchise altering players.
I would argue we have Adam Fox. He's the only one who has shown he will rise to the occasion in big moments and is elite. But our forwards have yet to display a similar trait.

I’ve been saying this core isn’t good enough yet for two off seasons and no one wanted to listen, while we made move after move because we have to win now.
