Have people still not realized that we shouldn’t give two damn shots about how the NHL team finishes this year, or any year, before it has firmly established Cup winning caliber talent?

Oh no, we are gonna be a bottom 3 team instead of merely one stuck in perpetual mediocrity.
yeah it's not 2019 anymore, it seems obvious this core group that the FO chose to ride with is not going to be good enough. Doesn't help when they've made some terrible personnel mistakes either.

Didn't get to see the game. Got sick and just woke up. Terrible loss, but glad I was vindicated for sticking up for sticking up for Geo last night and I'll stick up for Shesty tonight...

39 shots against Geo last night.
37 shots against Shesty tonight.

This is a team that leaves their goalies out to dry night after night. If teams are going to put up 40 shots a night, then we're going to be scrounging for wins no matter how many goals (or lack there of) that we put up. The team in front of Geo and Shesty is subpar, and obviously Shesty is in another league, but this pace of being beaten down cannot be sustained. This is the same, if not worse, Rangers hockey as Quinn hockey. It feels the same. It looks the same. It plays the same. There's no chemistry or cohesion, and when we score it looks like we're doing it right for a period and then the hyde team shows up and a 180 of mediocracy begins.

Glad I didn't see this dumpster fire tonight. Going to be a long season.

It couldn't be worse than what Laf and Kakko are doing right now, which is nothing.
1 player is not fixing this team, unless he's McDavid. And I doubt even he could change things, by looking how the Oilers have done during the previous years.

This should be the wakeup call for GG. I wanted him to blend it like 6 games ago, but now something has to give. There better be some new lines at the next practice.

This is no phenomena and has been glaring thus far this season. Not only are they giving up more than average amounts of shots, they are often near the bottom of below of shots for.

We are 5th in the league right now for most shots against. Ahead of us are Ducks, Hawks, Wings, and Habs. I'm not sue that we're capable of stopping the bleeding.

I don't even want to think about it anymore, what the f*** is this team going to do once Laf and Kakko are deemed real and true busts? We're gonna have to start that rebuild all over again aren't we......I'm scared bros

this team needs goal scorers and energy guys again now.

Posted this in the Kakko thread:

Fun fact: If Kakko busts, that'll be 9 straight top 10 picks that have either busted or had their relationship with the team demo'd.

Manny Malhotra (1998), Pavel Brendl (1999), Jamie Lundmark (1999), Dan Blackburn (2001), Al Montoya (2004), Dylan McIlrath (2010), Lias Andersson (2017), Vitali Kravtsov (2018).

Arguably 11 straight depending on your view of Nicklas Sundstrom (1993) (add him and Jayson More (1987) to the list). 10 or 12 straight if Lafreniere busts too.

The streak ends there... With Brian f***ing Leetch (1986).
Don't forget Cherepanov that had a heart attack and died in a game in 2008.

Lmao. I'm getting up for work and people are still up on the other side of the Globe, disturbed by the rangers.

Man, f*** this west coast trip. I got to watch like 2 periods of it all, tops. Judging by what I read I should consider myself lucky.

Florida should eat us alive.

The installation of a real NHL coach and a tougher team has fixed what ailed us.

Most of the biggest complainer fans got what they wanted.

Now, those same fans are unhappy with the new and improved team.

All these players have been giving interviews saying how much happier they are playing for Gallant... how much easier it is, how they can just be themselves, how they can be more in charge of the room.

Maybe this is the wrong bunch of people to give that respect and latitude to.

Tinordi and Nemeth need to be replaced, that play on the pk pretty much sums up Nemeths iq, there's 2 guys along the way battling and he goes in with them, leaves the net open and Zibanejad in no mans land trying to cover the whole defensive zone. I think this is a huge problem we seem to saddle ourselves with unnecessarily. Fine, we had cap issues in previous years so we got a guy like Johnson, this year that wasn't necessary, I've been blowing about our left side d and RW since 3 years, its still a big hole that zaps the good out of this team

A couple capable dmen would go a long way to fixing it. Drury is blowing this, we need skill on the right side and we got a player playing in Russia

That's really not accurate. If Laf and Kakko pan out and you have Zib and Panarin that's more high end forward talent than the 94 team had when we won, by a lot. You don't need 4 high scoring forwards to win a cup. You need 1 or 2 elite forwards who can score when it matters most. Who can put the team on their backs and lead. And then you have secondary scoring. Whats much harder? Thinking you can win a cup with a committee of 5 or 6 players who are not elite franchise altering players.

I would argue we have Adam Fox. He's the only one who has shown he will rise to the occasion in big moments and is elite. But our forwards have yet to display a similar trait.

Actually recent history says you do need that much talent, along with Fox.

I’ve been saying this core isn’t good enough yet for two off seasons and no one wanted to listen, while we made move after move because we have to win now.

Core is fine if the kids actually progressed and we filled holes on d instead of making more with Tinordi and Nemeth. Kravtsov should be here, now they can't even bring him here if they wanted to, its a massive fail for Drury

Kakko and Lafreniere should have lit up the AHL before they were called up. Fast and Buch, two players who worked well with the other top six players were let go way to early. Some of that is because Gorton could not handle the cap situation.
