Basically knew this would turn into a cluster**** when we didn't take the lead in the first period. I mean WTF was that? We spent like 19 minutes in their zone.

Poulliot continues to play himself out of the league and into the KHL every game. This is his last shot.

Making dumb plays and taking crappy penalties is all he does apart from scoring a rare goal. Wouldn't mind moving Poul and Pyatt.

It's not saying that at all. Either you are misreading it or you do not understand the math. And "I'd take Chicago shooting 25 times over the Rangers shooting 50 times" is illogical as no season the past four years did the best team in the league have a shooting percentage twice that of the bottom team in the league.

Take last year for example:

High shooting % = Tor 11.47
Low shooting % = Ott 7.04
Tor 25 shots/game = Expected goals of 2.8675
Ott 50 shots/game = Expected goals of 3.52

Take 2011:
High shooting % = TB at 10.42 with 25 shots a game that is Expected goals of 2.605
Low shooting % = LA at 7.49 with 50 shots a game that is expected goals of 3.745.

The main way to score goals is to get lots and lots of shots. Obviously all shots are not created equal. That is why things take large sample sizes to normalize and you see huge fluctuations in small data sets.

It was obviously an exaggeration. Also Toronto is again getting ridiculously outshot and winning. Two years in a row. They did it again today I just checked, lol. Every ****ing game. If you shoot a lot and they're all cupcakes, who cares how good the chances are? I understand that over 82 games this gets normalized some, but are you telling me that the Rangers will necessarily score more than Chicago if they get more shots than them? Does level of scorers on a team not matter? I think you're confusing correlation and causation. Teams that shoot more tend to score more, because teams that shoot more tend to create more offense and be better offensive. But they're not scoring more BECAUSE they have more shots. They're scoring because those teams tend to be better offensive teams. Unfortunately the Rangers are an outlier. Lots of guys that can pass, 1 guy that can shoot, who has played 3.3 periods. They're good at creating chances, but unlike those other teams they're not good at finishing. They will probably improve their shooting percentage up and score more, but I doubt they'll be any good with the lack of scorers.

Isnt the mantra "Get the puck on the net"

Well.. we did that, to the sum of a entire bakery worth of breadcrumbs

Frustrating game to lose, but the team showed a lot. They are going through a rut, Rask was sensational, gotta give him credit.
They dominated the Bruins for long stretches, the compete level was there, the finish was not. it will come.

Nash played decently in his first game back.

We can use some production from him.
Real soon.
No pressure, no pressure at all.

agreed.

nobodys at fault for losing tonight.

you could blame henrik if youre a lonely bitter person...but the fact of the matter is, he gave up 2 goals...on a night when the team outchances the opposition 5-1 or whatever it was, on a night where we controlled all the play, it's really really tough to blame your goalie when you only score 1 goal.

the thornton one I saw coming a mile away, HORRIBLE play by Falk and you just knew those kinds of mistakes will burn you.

Falk shouldn't even be in there.

Team plays one of it's better games of the season but can't finish, and people are questioning whether or not Hank is really good, or if the past 8 years have been a fluke. Typical.

I'm happy with Dorsett, and with that trade.
I also would not mind seeing Haley up again. i don't follow Hartford closely enough to know how he is doing but thought he was a decent enough skater and seemed to not look lost when he was up earlier.

Haleys been alright, he was playing really well the first few game before the rangers took a lot of their skilled players. I think he's had 5 or 6 fights, but he can be an uber pest and hes got a lot of heart and determination. He's a serious competitor and kinda like a wild card player that although he doesn't have a ton of raw talent, he can go out and make his mark on the game in other ways. He has the potential to be the type of player that change a game without being on the scoreboard...apparently the scoreboard isn't a big factor for being a ranger anyhow. :naughty:

Moore didn't play it as well as he could have. He should have closed on Thornton, Zuke backchecked like a demon and the pass was not there. Not sure Moore saw Zuke though, so tough to blame him.

I think you'd be insane to not take Rask over Hank. Younger and only getting better. One for one, I trade Hank for Tuuka every day and twice on Sunday.

Edit: No knock on Lundqvist, I just prefer Rask going forward.

Definitely entitled to your opinion - I can respect that. :)

I hate making an after-loss reactionary post, but I dunno if it's just me, but I'm just getting tired of Callahan.

He's still by far the best player this team has in front of the net, but his effort/skill everywhere else on the ice has been extremely lacking IMO. He's rivaling Richards for the most passive/weak backhands just thrown into space, and then picked off/intercepted by the other team. He looks like he has an NHL 12 turning radius out there.

Someone please talk some sense into me on this, but I'd have no issue if they let him walk if he asks for a Dustin Brown contract.

I would resign him but not for crazy money or an 8 year deal

Can someone explain to me what the Rangers saw in Falk that made them think he was an improvement over Eminger? Because I certainly don't see it.

Totally agree. And it cannot be lost that Boston is a damn good team. Even when things go wrong for them, they still don't implode and they'll still pick up checks away from the puck and find ways to put up a fight and make it difficult to beat them. Rangers played a solid game and lost to an excellent team that has allowed a league low 38 goals against in 21 games.

Have you seen this team without Callahan?

Remember what that looks like?

yeah, i dont get it either.

honestly, id go with mcilrath over falk. mcilrath isnt ready, but if youre giving him regular minutes on the 3rd pairing, i'll live with his mistakes. falk is so mediocre its not even funny.

That says more about the team IMO. What happens if Cally goes down on a season ending injury? The team will play horrible just because he is out? i hope not. they should play whether he is in or not

John Moore has been very disappointing this season after playing so well last year after the trade. He needs to get stronger along the boards. He also doesn't produce much offensively for a guy with his speed and shot combination. The potential is obvious though. Also Falk has the foot speed of a glacier.

Jackets fan taking a break from watching my team get their ass beat: how did Nash look in his first game back? I'm just so happy he's playing again.

quite good, lts of chances, but, like the rest of the team, couldnt finish.

Rask was outstanding.

Hard to tell, he was pretty invisible out there
