Ripped top shelf? The save Rask made on Nash's redirection early in the game was a tougher chance. Only diffference is Rask knows how to use his glove. And the second goal through the legs is bad considering that Paille had back pressure and few options. Rask stopped how many breakaways? Stop with the excuses. Hank is good. World class? Not so sure anymore.

Can't take anything away from Rask's redirect save - it was great for sure.

Thorton's chance was an uncontested laser from the dot, yes it was a laser of a shot off the crossbar and in. Have you ever played goal? I know you're upset but cmon.

From the body of your post you're coming off like you'd want Rask over Hank based on this game. Which would be ridiculous.

where is the logic in choosing talbot over hank?

What have you done for me lately, and well Henrik is past his prime now I guess. Do other teams fans flip out on their goalies as much as some of us do? First goal he gave up, yeah could've stopped it but it was a defensive breakdown with a player coming in untouched. 2nd goal was a breakway. Rarely will I blame a goalie for giving up a breakaway. Looking back it would've been great if he had come up with one of these but then again, it would also be nice to score more than a goal a game.

So, we start a tough road trip with two home games down the drains...great.

2 goals in 3 games, I can't believe it. Kreider and Zucc should hit a bar and figure out a scoring plan.
well considring they were the only 2 forwards who try an create chances every shift they need a lot of booze

The Bruins were ripe for the picking tonight, I've never seen them look so lethargic .
They are lucky Rask showed up to play and steal this game.
The Rangers definitely need someone on this team who can finish !!

Lundqvist has a 2.38 GAA and a .918 SV% so far. Can we cut down on the extremes? Sometimes it feels like we have Mike Dunham back in net if you went by this board.

It's a long season, I'm pretty confident that our goaltender is going to win us more games than he'll cost us. He's only done it every season he's been here.

It's fine to point out when Lundqvist allows a bad goal or has an iffy game but let's not go over the deep end. Deep breaths. Everything will be okay.

So I'll probably get ripped to shreds for this, but since last season I've been starting to wonder if Hank really is as good as we like to think he is. And by this I mean is he REALLY head and shoulders above 95% of goalies on 9 nights out of 10? How many hot streaks do we remember him hitting when we needed it? Has he really stolen that many "unwinnable" games for us in the last ~2 years? Yes I understand he is ultra competitive and everyone has their flaws at the end of the day, but if we're spending 7-8mil on an elite player, I'd want him stealing games like tonight for us. His stats are nice and all, but how much of that comes during clutch moments/games?

agreed. People here are throwing tantrums

I never got this. That's assuming all shots are the same. Last game we had 37 shots and like 35 cupcakes. I won't say it was the same this game, but I'd take Chicago shooting 25 times over the Rangers shooting 50 times.

It's not saying that at all. Either you are misreading it or you do not understand the math. And "I'd take Chicago shooting 25 times over the Rangers shooting 50 times" is illogical as no season the past four years did the best team in the league have a shooting percentage twice that of the bottom team in the league.

Take last year for example:

High shooting % = Tor 11.47
Low shooting % = Ott 7.04
Tor 25 shots/game = Expected goals of 2.8675
Ott 50 shots/game = Expected goals of 3.52

Take 2011:
High shooting % = TB at 10.42 with 25 shots a game that is Expected goals of 2.605
Low shooting % = LA at 7.49 with 50 shots a game that is expected goals of 3.745.

The main way to score goals is to get lots and lots of shots. Obviously all shots are not created equal. That is why things take large sample sizes to normalize and you see huge fluctuations in small data sets.

Ranger fans arent allowed to give credit to opposing goaltenders  Its always "we suck or we have no finshers"

agreed.

nobodys at fault for losing tonight.

you could blame henrik if youre a lonely bitter person...but the fact of the matter is, he gave up 2 goals...on a night when the team outchances the opposition 5-1 or whatever it was, on a night where we controlled all the play, it's really really tough to blame your goalie when you only score 1 goal.

the thornton one I saw coming a mile away, HORRIBLE play by Falk and you just knew those kinds of mistakes will burn you.

.... you'd want Rask over Hank based on this game. Which would be ridiculous.

I think you'd be insane to not take Rask over Hank. Younger and only getting better. One for one, I trade Hank for Tuuka every day and twice on Sunday.

Edit: No knock on Lundqvist, I just prefer Rask going forward.

We need to score goals though. Goals usually help goaltenders win games. Give me 10 goalies you want over Hank. He has bailed the team out plenty of times. If you dont see that then idk what to tell you.

rask out played hank.. seems like every goalie does... rather just go with Talbot against dal... Nash looked good.. CK needs to burry for *** sake.. I don't like mdz but I want him in and miller in please
Hank would out play hank if he versed the Rangers too.

Not that many really, since the first six games or so. He's no saint (which is wonderful, and means he has a functional brain) but I at least think he has some credit, while I look at Pouliot and just consider him as not having really built up any goodwill or credit whatsoever. Pouliot takes a penalty and just makes you wonder why he is even out there in a Rangers sweater and given the opportunity to take a penalty.

I can get down with that, I like him more than a lot of other players on this team. I just think when A and Prust left, they should looked at another slightly more talented pest.

But he was part of the deal that brought Nash here and no matter what anyone says, that trade was a no-brainier at the time.

hank isnt head and shoulders above every goalie in the league in terms of pure skill. hes right up there with other elite goalies in that matter. however hank is heads and shoulders above everyone in terms of consistency.

Which is why think he'll regress back to his mean. He'll be good ole Hank in no time.

So trade him and have Talbot start 55 of the last 61. Let's see where we finish in the standings then. You seem to think that would be better that putting that perrenial loser in net.

I didn't call him a perrenial loser, but he is. Though his teams have sucked he has also been wildly inconsistent in the playoffs. He's now playing like he does in the playoffs. Lots of soft goals. Last game was like a lot of his other playoffs games, no goal support and lights out. But he has had more ****** games and I'm not even including the terrible games early in the season, either it was his injury or just a major slump, but either way clearly he's not THAT bad.

I'm giving AV credit for sticking with that line.. swapping them around wont magically make them score, and they are producing chances.. big fat ones

Hank hasn't been great but the team has scored a total of 2 goals in the last 3 games.....you can't win if you expect your goalie to get a shutout every game.

go to bed dude, youre aggravated and dont realize what youre doing

Scoring aside...
It's just the types of goals hank lets in that frustrates people so much, I mean for every 5 or 6 saves he makes that he has no business making he will let 1 more routine goal in. I mean I'll take that ratio any day but I do see how it's frustrating for people. Also adding to that frustration is the fact that we face so many goalies that steal games for their teams against the rangers...and it just never really seems to work out that way for hank. Not saying that he doesn't steal games...but we see more opposing goalies absolutely stealing the game than we do for hank....I consider myself more of a neutral fan of hank, I'm not a super fanboy but also no where near some "hank bashers".

you wanna know who is the most pissed?

toronto cause raycroft isn't better then either of them

I'm happy with Dorsett, and with that trade.
I also would not mind seeing Haley up again. i don't follow Hartford closely enough to know how he is doing but thought he was a decent enough skater and seemed to not look lost when he was up earlier.

To be honest, I think they will be back on track and score some goals, it's just a matter of time. As you say, this line is still our most effective one.
