Instead of looking at stats watch him play. He single handedly kills the offense of the 3rd line. You can put Ovechkin in his prime and Bure in his prime on both sides of him (first 2 good offensive wingers I can think of) and that line will suck offensively. It's much more than points. If you watch Miller, even 2 games in he seems to control the play way better. You have a feeling that someone might make a play when that line is on. On the 4th line Boyle is fine, even good. As the #3 C, we're not cup contenders most likely. That's a huge hole.

What offense can he kill? His linemates have always been Fedotenko and Prust. His role is clearly to prevent the other team from scoring. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make by referencing to Bure and Ovechkin.

He had decent linemates this year and looked awful.

2 of those 3 are not bad linemates for a 3rd line. Granted Hags has had a slow start, but both he and Pyatt are legit 3rd liners in this league.

And Boyle isn't a 3rd line player? Boyle's put up better numbers than Pyatt the last 2 years.

Using his 20 goal season is like saying Graves was a 50 goal scorer. You're including Boyle's best season and a down season for Pyatt.

Edit: Besides I'm going by what I see not just points. Pyatt plays like a 3rd liner (hell at times he played like a decent 2nd liner so far). Boyle offensively is a scrub.

I def agree boyle shouldnt be playing over anyone in our top 9 right now but still a good 4th line option

Let's not make this another Boyle thread.

There's a thread for Brain Boyle talk.

Need every win possible. Keep this board sane for as long as possible.

We're 10 games in, we need to start building on getting above a .500 record.

Even if we were to go 22-12-4 the rest of the way, that still will put us in serious question for first round home ice advantage.

Even? I would be ecstatic finishing the season with a record like that.

Tonight's the night to show they're able to really contain high-power offenses and control the flow of a game against a legit opponent. Keep building off these wins, LGR!

The goal this year is just get in..short season, just get in

It was proven last year that it really doesn't matter where you finish in the standings. The Caps took us 7 games and they werent anywhere near as good as we were, I was more scared of Ottawa.

With the schedule the way it is this year I suspect not many points will seperate #1 and #8.

Or #8 and #12 for that matter. Which is why they need to start stringing wins together

Also its about avoiding Pittsburgh. Just an example I'd rather be a 5 seed and face someone else than say a 2 seed and face Pittsburgh (but lets be honest Penguins will probably finish ahead of us)

The Stanley Cup Champion every year was the 5th seed or higher before last year, and it was the 4th or higher except for 95. Seriously one year doesn't prove ****.
