Purcell always seems to go beast mode against the Rangers too. I wish we had gone after him before TB locked him up.

ever since his ankle got better he has been a different player. i just wish he gets some nice set ups because he will score
 
Some fans just love to get an idea of a player in their head and that's it.

Boyle is a New York Ranger, sometimes you need to try and jump start a player and give him a chance to get out of a funk. It's one game. This isn't Xbox. Just because he may not have the best hands or isnt the sexy option to pass Nash the puck, hard work can still get you production. You are dealing with personalities and Boyle was a large part of the core and character of a very good Rangers team last year.

Putting him on the second line with Nash isn't permanent it's just a show of confidence for a guy who needs it right now. You bench him, light a fire and try to cash in on it. It worked with Feds last year. But you need to give him an opportunity to do it. It seems like some of you don't even want him to do well, and that's just ludicrous to me. The Rangers will need Boyle to snap back into form if they want to go places

Even if its for one period, give him a shot.

I'm a fan of Boyle and I'm a fan of the benching. The player that made him successful here was one who worked hard, had high energy and passion, and did all the little things right. Thus far this season he's had 1, maybe 2, games where he's been a reflection of what made him successful here these last two seasons. He's been lazy at times, had little focus, energy has lacked, and seemed out of place.

He was a big part of the Rangers identity and success over the last two years, he still is a big part of the Rangers current identity as well, but he needs to get back to what made him successful.

A few days off will hopefully allow him to clear his head while the benching will hopefully light the fire needed. I don't think he needs confidence, he needs passion. I'm not in favor of putting him on the 2nd line with Nash. Im not in favor of putting him anywhere on the top 3 lines when he comes back. He needs to earn that. 4th line duty and penalty killing until he proves he's back to being the player he was before.

Excellent point. past doesnt matter you have to show it now in the present. Boyle will get another shot and hopefully he will use the benching as motivation

The last time we played Tampa it was their power play (as per usual for them) that looked the strongest. We have had a struggling unit, and will probably be counting on a few youngsters to contribute in that area in this game. We need to keep it even strength as much as we can, and work on their very, very slow defensive corps. Use Hagelin and Gaborik to try to stretch the game. Every penalty we take, I'm taking a shot.

Onus is on you, NYR. Stay disciplined.

I'm feeling a win, hoping for a big night for Nash, Cally and Miller. Also hoping Boyle can start performing.
 
I find that every time I mention a gut feeling that Nash will score, he doesn't.

So......Nash with 0 goals.
 
This is my short take on Nash based on our limited viewings of him.

He is a great offensive talent, he is a much better passer than I anticipated and he is VERY good at CREATING chances.

However, he isn't the greatest FINISHER. (Obviously he won't continue his horrid shooting percentage, but this is just I how I feel based on the 10 games I've seen him play so far).

Gaborik, in terms of CREATING chances, is almost the opposite of Nash but he is just such a great FINISHER.

I prefer having both of them on the team.

I still can't fathom how our PP is so bad. So much god damn talent, no results.

Edit: For people who watch and play soccer. I think of Gaborik as a pure goal poacher, while Rick Nash is more that all around forward that can create and finish (although not the same frequency that that pure goal poacher can).
 
There is a reason why Gaborik has scored a similar number of goals to Nash since the lockout in about 100 less games.

Still, even if Nash doesn't become a 40 goal scorer for us he does increase the danger level of the line he is on.

Still, when people talk about picking Nash over Gaborik when the time comes to cut salary, I have to laugh.
 
id like to see kreider with richards a little bit. Richards passing and kreider's speed and shot could create some goals
