The trade for Lucic to begin with was the fail. DL was right to walk away from that Edmonton contract.

DL has been under the delusion that this team is still competitive since the end of 14/15. It was clear then that this squad was missing something major post-Voynov and Richards scandals. Our chance at a retool was then.

Instead, DL sold the farm for quick fixes in Sekera and Lucic, neither of whom panned out long term. Now we're stuck with this.

Textbook asset mismanagement. Time to tear it down and start over, otherwise we have become Vancouver, destroyer of hope.

This is a playoff team.
 
Good news is at least the Ducks have no wins
Bad news is they still have a better record than the Kings
 
Tearing it down means, trading Kopitar, cause there is no point keeping him and his 10M cap hit then.
 
Remember when i said Lucic made a big difference because he parked his fatass infront of the net and we scored more goals because of it ? Well on the pp i havent seen ONE guy infront of the goalie to cause some sort of havoc or screen. Lucic should have been resigned at all costs . Greene should have been bought out and Clifford and King moved and made way for prospects so we could have kept Lucic.

Time to let go of 2012 and 2014. That's ancient history at this point.

No GM is going to make this any better soon. You cannot get rid of Brown. You cannot get rid of Gaborik. Unless you're retaining salary, and giving up something else, and even then, highly doubtful.

Get rid of Carter and Martinez, ok, but you still have $11m in Brown and Gaborik.

Try and find a GM to take the crap on the 3rd and 4th line, even though we wouldn't want to see the Kings get those players, and bring up some young guys, but you still have $11m in Brown and Gaborik.

Brown at $6m. Gaborik at $5m. Kopitar and Carter a combined $15m. Toffoli will probably get $6m? Pearson, $3m? There's no way to pay Lucic. Ok, then don't get him in the first place, but Carolina was getting the 2016 1st pick, and imagine what happens around here if they win the lottery and get Matthews with it.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. If you're not, I agree.

The usual crowd can save their "I told you so" bullets for me if they desire.

We're not this bad. Funny how many people around here that are so fast to jump on Quick when he gives up 1 goal in the first 10 shots aren't blaming Zatkoff at all for 5 in 15...

Edit: let me rephrase: THIS isn't a playoff team, but it will be.

Nope. Trading for him in the first place was dumb as we had no money and very little chance at him signing here. Deans biggest mistakes are Sekara and Lucic we would be in a much better place had neither of those guys ever been traded for.

After 25 games we should have a better look at who is going to stick or be gone.

Heck at this rate Jack Campbell might be an NHL goalie soon.

I wasn't being sarcastic. The Kings will likely make the playoffs.
 
Have to go pretty far back to find a worse goaltending performance than this one. Still a whole period to go.
