Yes the team that needs to shed salary needs to take one one of the larger cap hits in the league.

Even if Chicago retained half, Bruins are still at minimum back where they started, IF both of the Bruins most expendable players are in the deal. Reilly+ Smith = ~ half of Kane. 3 + 3.1 vs 10.5/2 (5.25 and .825k cap savings)

Kane makes sense in the sense, Good Player to Good team makes sense, but cap structure and roster, I really don't see how this works without moving a few roster players, in a position we are relatively strong at the moment at. (For once I wouldn't say RW is a weakness on the team)

Turns out teams aren't lining up to trade for Craig Smith or Mike Reilly.

It's trending up to a situation where they need to either give up their 1st round pick or waive Frederic and Zboril.
Because of their poor drafting, the situation exists. But also because of their poor drafting, the situation stings less.

If I was trying to do a Kane type deal, I'd send Carlo, Smith, Reilly, and whatever picks and prospects they needed to make that work. In turn they retain some of that Kane salary too (20%?). Then I'd grab a depth D at the deadline in all the shuffle.

But I don't think we NEED Kane frankly.

I’m not advocating for it or anything, but I would think a Kane deal would include Debrusk going back.

And I've been suggesting hockey trades where a guy like Carlo goes the other way (hence the balancing out of money)
And how to you balance out your defense that needs "balancing out" with Carlo........It would be fun and entertaining to see a lineup with Bergey,Marchy,Pasta, Krecji,Hall Kane............and your third line would be Coyle ,DeBrusk and Zacka ,I am starting to wet my pants .............and then I woke up, it was just a dream

Most Chicago fans don't want/need Debrusk.

He's a UFA in 2 years for a rebuilding team, doubt he has much value going that direction.

If we are selling Debrusk elsewhere first, then maybe it makes sense. But overly complicated or contingent deals don't seem to be Sweeney's forte.

Top 4 D you know

3rd pairing is Forbort - Zboril and your extra guy is Stralman. But you gotta go get a UFA depth guy right at the deadline.

At this point I'd be worried to not hurt team chemistry as well.

Gotta dump cap, but don't think we can realistically bring in a solid contract without moving an existing players (that's not listed as one of our expendables).

I mean beating up Chicago isn't the test, and while the team definitely has me excited, not sure how much we can add without subtracting.

If the #64 overall pick is what we need to give up to get out of cap hell, just do it :DD

That Chicago team was a disgrace last night

- drop some cap

- pick up picks

Thats really all i would want the Bruins to do. Unless something falls into their lap or there's a major injury, i don't see a need to make a big upgrade. Sweeney does like to make a big deadline splash though, so maybe they've got their eyes on potential targets for down the road. Imagine a top 4 blueline of

Lindholm -- McAvoy

Chychrun -- Carlo

It's a roll of the dice though with the injury concerns and what it would do to thr cap moving forward if he's hurt all the time.

Bruins must go all in this year. Considering the lack of cap space, let’s say your moving out Smith, and Reilly when in all reality those are the types of depth pieces we would want at the deadline.

What are you fortifying or upgrading on a team with so few flaws? What UFAs are you looking at? I think Athanasiuo would be a good a solid bottom 6 guy to throw into the mix and might push Frederic or Greer out of the lineup.

He's not on the game day roster
Initially he was
We'll see at 305pm
Trade maybe? Anyhow, if Capfriendly is right, it looks like we could call up Forbort and send down Stralman, keeping Reilly in PRO and be 45K under the cap with Zboril and Greer as the extra skaters... Maybe the site is wrong but that's what it is saying today.

McAvoy & Lindholm so good right now not fair

Sweeney drafted McAvoy & traded for Lindholm

Focusing on sunshine not clouds
Now that we are 1/4 through the season do you think Clifton is a legit #4 D man?
