Think newspapers have people working around the clock? That's how they end up on your door early in the morning? I bet the sports sections are following the games live on a big screen during the night, while they cut and paste the soccer news from English tabloids in the commercial breaks. Or they could even have their US correspondant watch it maybe, in a DC bar. Must be a great job.

Well.. If I recall correctly one of the main broadcasters actually had their US correspondant on press conferences last time Mats was playing for the Rangers. She was the one driving Torts to the brink of insanity with all her Zucc questions

Holy crap, I was facepalming like a baws back then.

Deadline for printet news tends to be at 11 pm, depending on how far away from the news press you are.

I'm not sure they have someone following each game "live", but rather write stories based on the highlight reels and stat sheets. Might be that they have one guy writing them on freelance.

Also, according to twitter he took a puck to the nuts last match?

No oz starts for Zucc line yesterday. What's that all about?

The Caps did a good job of locking down the Rangers most of the game. Big parts of the game were spent on the PP or the PK, and as a result Zucc double shifted lines a few times, he had neraly 5 min more icetime than Pouliot at one point during the 2nd period so Im curious what that was about.

This line has died off a bit, since its not producing at the PP "anymore" either. The 2 goals its produced the past 3 games have been more or less all Zucc.

If it sticks we'll probably see a drop in production from this part of the Rangers bench

I have to agree, that line has really cooled off, or in som respect, it never was that hot 5v5. The decline in production I think would probably force AV to look for alternative lines.

Zuke should be playing with better players. As good as he was with Brassard and Pouliot, he'd be better playing with better players.

Only problem is, take Zuke away and I have a suspicion that Brass and Poo stop producing again.

And again, why is Zuccarello not on the point or wings during PP. Why does he have to stand right smack in the middle of two opponents. He needs to be making the passes, not being bait.

I understand his nuts took some beating last night. Lets hope it isn't bad, and hes ready for tomorrow.

This line is not working well, but unless they start loosing AV will keep running it. Maybe if Pouliot makes more defensive blunders AV will lose his patience and try Miller or somerhing? Wouldn't mind. Think Pouliot is sniffing on AVs doghouse, and the reason behind the lack of OZ starts?

Wish we had a Norwegian in Vancouver, just for the press conferences:)

they have one "meh" game and all of a sudden they aren't working?

this has been easily our most consistent line for a while now.

Since December 12th the trio have combined for 39 points in 19GP...basically 2PPG for that line.

Theyve been terrific.

Also, during that time period there were only 3 games where all 3 of them failed to record a point....3 out of the last 19GP.

That's solid production right there, particularly from a "3rd" line that combines for a cap hit that is less than Brad Richards alone. (5.65M)

They've been good in PP, but don't think they have been that good 5v5 IMO. Not sure where you find info at nhl.com, but as late as New Years this line didn't exist as far as the GDT is correct: http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=1571405
Can't recall when they got back toghether again, but think it was when Callahan got off IR, so whatever happend in December says more of their production when they were not playing together. They were not good at the start of the season either production wise. But by all means, as long as the team is winning and the two top lines are running on full steam there shouldn't be any reason to.

Edit: Think they have combined for 7 out of 32 goals this year. 21 %.

They are very productive for a 3rd line. I don't think that the fact that they haven't been our best line for the last couple of games means that the line isn't working anymore.

Admittedly, I didn't catch the Caps game so I dunno how they looked there.

I guess the canundrum is that we dont have a spot for (the then top point scorer) in our "top 6", so he's put on a line with 2 players that are kinda defining streaky.

It's a bit of a unheard of luxury when you can slot one of the top20 point scorers in the entire NHL, since game #9 (when Zucc started proudcing) on a line where production is "pleasantly welcome" instead of demanded every game.

Ofc if the special teams werent so disgustingly effecient, he'd be on a completely different line, since we'd need more ES production.

Take a look at the ice-time distribution. The notion of the top 6 kind of goes out the window. Ice-time is being distributed pretty evenly throughout the top 9 forwards.

It's not really about the ice time though. It's about who he plays with. Poo and Brass can have flashes of great, but they are _usually_ with Zuccarello more or less giving them the goal.

Zucc needs to be on a line with someone faster than himself. Having someone like Kreider or Hagelin on a 2 on 1 or breakaway would utilize his vision of the ice so much more than if Zuccarello is always the one who has to go in on the forecheck behind the goal.

Agreed. Wouldn't mind seeing him with Miller, as long as the two top lines are clicking. Miller, Brass & Zuke.

12 minutes of ice time.... And when he was on the ice, Poo made some stupid mistakes. 2 penalties on Poo.

That line just isn't working any more, and Poo is to blame. He got some confidence back, which is good - but he's using that confidence to make stupid plays.

Poo isn't to blame. He did things that refs allow 90% of the time.

Brass has always been wildly inconsistent and after his hot streak it looks like he's done being good for a while. Zuke can't be expected to keep up a PPG pace. He should be getting more minutes, though. Bad coaching by AV.

Found a funny picture of a young Zucc (#41) while looking around twitter. Ironically posted by another norwegian olympian (Alex Bonsaksen - whom I presume is wearing the jersey with Alexander #38).

At least he is used to being the shortest guy on the ice.

Still has been one of/if not our most consistent forward this season since that healthy scratch in Philly.
