Not necessarily. Better teams have more options and spread around favorable matchups and pp time. Zegras and Terry get every offensive opportunity on the ducks.
You would think that, but Ducks strategy seems to be go with a 2A and 2B strategy (let's be real, they don't have the talent for a real #1 unit). If I'm reading this right, Cozens averages 2 seconds less of power play time per game. The time might be more distributed on a good team, but there are also far more power plays usually. The Zegras unit probably gets 10-15 seconds more per power play. It's not like a lot of elite players/units that got almost the whole power play.

Zegras has 174.5 pp minutes vs cozens 161 so 13.5 minutes extra on the pp which is significant. 5 on 5 he gets a 64% offensive zone start push compared to Cozens 49.5. That’s kind of my point. Cozens isn’t going to be used as his teams #1 offensive threat because he isn’t. On the ducks zegras is the guy.

Actually, Terry is. Zegras will be eventually, but he’s got quite a bit of work to do maturing his game, body, and mind to be “the guy”.

None the less he’s more “the guy” than cozens is clearly. He’s getting a lot of offensive opportunity.

And Cozens isn’t pulling all the attention of the other teams’ best defensive players, which makes for easier production. Zegras had far more time and space last year with Getzlaf and Terry taking that attention. Pros and cons to being in both situations.

Any team leaning on a 21-year old to be their top guy while having stripped out a chunk of their NHL-level defense by trade (or injury) is going to look bad in the GF/GA totals. That he's still getting results considering the lack of talent around him is impressive to me.

Relative to the level of hype this kid gets, he's extremely unimpressive. The way the fans and media portray him you'd think he'd be racking up points like McDavid, or at the very least be on the level of a Hughes or Thompson. I've never seen a more mediocre player get so much praise before.

That said I'd still take him on my team, I just don't think his 60 point seasons warrant the hype.

What is with the hate for this kid? I just don't get it?

Did he skill it up against your team or something?
Whats the hype with this kid? For a guy this soft and offense orientated, you'd think he could at least put up a PPG to warrant all the attention he gets

What hype? The EA cover? You see a ton of posts pumping his tires?
Yes. The love in the media, the love on this board. It's insane, especially in today's league where the bar for a PPG couldn't be lower and he still doesn't hit it.

No disrespect to him as a player. 60 points is great. But holy shit the way he gets talked about in the media you'd think he was competing for scoring titles.

Anyone else feel this way? He may end up being a superstar, which would be great for the sport, but if he isn't doing the lacrosse stuff, he doesn't really stand out.

Is the expectation that he be the main cog to turn Anaheim around? I'm not seeing it.
Never mind all of that. The only important questions are, do you think he is cool? And also, what do you think of his hair?

He's young, flashy, and can put up points. For being on the team he's on, he's got a shitload of confidence. That's the draw.

He's trying to impress on one of the worst teams in the league with barely any actual support to him and some of the youth.

Yeah he's been impressive. Verbeek not so much. Their clear intent on tanking is so hilariously obvious too.

He's no Byfield or Turcotte that's for sure.

This thread is giving me flashbacks to how people trashed on Eichel in Buffalo.

My question for Ducks fans is will Zegras be a center long term? Seems to be on the wing a lot this season from the line combos I’ve seen.

He's a center. Eakins is just a dumbass. Can't wait until we get him a single solid linemate... He's plays good with Terry and Henrique but we have to split because our team sucks.

I do think he will end up a center over the long haul. He needs to get stronger and work on faceoffs for sure, but he belongs in the middle.

Maybe he'll end up having a similar career to Claude Giroux, where he plays a fair bit of both center and wing.

I want Zegras with Caufield, right now.

He's VERY impressive, most entertaining player in the league, certainly one of the most talented. He's 21 FFS.

He's no Patrice Bergeron, but still is an amazing, offensive young C. I take him everyday on my team.

If he's so unimpressive, trade him to Montreal for Dach +. :)
