Zegras - Unimpressive

Ducks fans, what do you think Zegras’s ceiling is? I’m having a tough time figuring him out.

PPG flashy pest type of player. His game and personality is still very immature, but as others have mentioned he's putting up points on a team that never has the puck, when the strength of his game is creativity and having the puck. The PP is also ass. People who don't watch him will harp on the defensive side of his game, but he's a pretty good 1 on 1 defender but still seems confused with the system, but hell all of the Ducks seem confused when they're in the defensive zone. I think every Ducks fan is happy with his development so far. When the team gets competitive I see him having 90+ point potential but not consistently sitting at that level.

He's relative xGF% is Bergeron tier. His defensive play is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. If anything, it's above average for a very young offensive player.

His team just happens to be a complete disaster, so even with him being ridiculously dominant compared to his teammates he's just treading water.

Agree with all of this. His defense is fine, especially for a 21 year old on a historically bad team that never has the puck.

Adam Oates took 3-4 years to fully get going and was never the main cog. I think he is Zegras’ best comparable.

Thank you great way to start my weekend.

I'm more unimpressed that something like this has to even be brought up concerning a 21 year old kid who is close to 50 in 59 this season on a team that's 2nd to last in the league and has a whopping -99 on the goal differential.

Typical for HF, the Drouin/maturity comment should've been more obvious. As in waste of talent.
He's already not a waste of talent for a 9th round pick so it's a stupid premise. And if your point is that his points are irrelevant if he's immature, I don't see Bruins fans complaining about Marchand so it'll be fine.

I find it funny when people see a prospect receive a bit of hype and then when he isn’t immediately a franchise level talent label him unimpressive or a bust, usually because of their own misguided preconceptions. He’s a sophomore on a rebuilding team, circle back in 5 years, doubt the discussion will even be necessary then though.

Cozens has basically same stat sheet as zegras but much more talent + protection around him.

You put any of those players in Anaheim, and their numbers would drop way down,
Not necessarily. Better teams have more options and spread around favorable matchups and pp time. Zegras and Terry get every offensive opportunity on the ducks.

he's absolutely better than Boldy, insane take to think otherwise lol
They are close. Boldy plays a more complete game in my opinion. Regardless he’s not head and shoulders above his peers like HF built him up to be. He’s not even the best forward from his draft class currently and that’s excluding Hughes.
