I know pavelec is blah but given options wouldn't it be the best option ? I'm sure the jets would eat 50 percent and take scuderi w say a 4th rounder

Reading through this thread, I feel absolutely awful for Kings fans.

It's pretty disgusting to read through isn't it? These 'I'll give you a trashy goaltender for a decent player because high value of our backup's backup right now'.

Kings can spend about a 5th rounder on a backup, that's it. Kings don't have a stanley cup caliber team, and making it just to the playoffs could be a challenge with how the team is built. Why spend expensive assets just to make it to 8th place and get bounced out in the first round?

...oh...because Dean Lombardi did it last year. Well, makes sense why posters would want to trade trash for high value, but I don't expect it to happen yet again.

That's funny. A few of us have been suggesting low cost alternatives like Wedgewood, Condon, and Kinkaid (Keith, not Reuben).

I don't know why these would be problematic as they could be waived, assigned or traded when they're no longer needed.

I wouldn't mind if Hawks traded Darling to Kings

Darling for Kings 2nd in 2017? Darling can hold the fort for 2-3 months and should be affordable for Kings to sign to an extension to provide quality backup to Quick

Hawks can then call up Lars Johansson to NHL roster as #2 and add a 2nd for this years coming draft in Chicago

a 2nd may or may not be fair value the kings should not pay that much for a 2 month 3 week bandaid on our problem. Most i would pay is a 3rd and it would only be for a expiring contract under 1 million

You guys do realize that a lot of the posts are jokes right? Even if they're serious, what's there to feel bad about? It's just a trade speculation thread lol

Could they be had for a 5th? ;)

Some are more in the realm of possibility, absolutely. However, most of the offers are just unrealistic and immature. I really just see the Kings riding this problem out and if they finish outside the playoff this year and sell some assets; most King fans would be in agreement with that decision.

I mean, the goalie market is always cheap, I don't think people will be able to hold us hostage as much as some posters want to pretend, especially given our restrictions.

Yeah, if you're a hockey fan you have to have a sense of humor about your team. Looking at your avatar, I see you do. I'm rooting for Budaj to hold the fort, but I fully expect to see the Kings acquire a goalie if Zatkoff is out any length of time.

Our goalie fortunes in the last couple of years have been craaaazy.

I think Bernier is the best fit and Anaheim should be willing to get rid of him fairly cheap to sign lindholm

Yep, I'm good with it. There's very little to suggest that this team is a playoff team this year. Win, lose or draw go with what we have. There is very little point in giving away anything in desperation. The long range goal should be to escape the expansion draft relatively unscathed and to rebuild the pipeline.

Ahhh so this is the year you trade for another meh player at the deadline when you are on the outside looking in, miss the playoffs and get further into your eventual rebuild without a top pick? I thought that's what you meant.

I'm being sarcastic and playfully combative regarding the Kings need to make any trades for anything now or even down the road. Kings fans - no need to panic. Other fans - you will get nothing (as in no trades with Kings, not as in Kings rip anyone off) and like it. :) You know, us against the world.

They'd have to retain or take cap back. Kings can't afford a $4M cap hit.

I dont want weekend at berniers back, we've been their done that and got the tshirt, plus it helps the ducks re sign their marquee dman. Zatkoff as a retread hadnt clicked so far, lets go with a new guy if we're bringing in help, perhaps kuemper.

Islanders have 3, I'm sure you could pry one away from us if the return was good.

We have a Brown we could send back the other way! :)

Not paying to get our goalie back. We'll just grab one off the waiver wire soon.
