Every player in an Oiler jersey has some funky kaka smell on them after that period. Yes, even Skinner. It's concerning for the long-run that every game you would expect the Oilers to get up for, they look like shit.

Oilers overall sucked, Skinner should have had at least one of those, and Refs are in LA's pocket.

Flat out need to be better though. Not one high danger scoring chance.

I blame the Trump theme. Too much loser energy.

One team decided to upgrade in the offseason and the other had their GM stick his fingers in his ass.
That’s an unfair assessment. After seeing Oilers lose 2 years in the playoffs with goaltending and defence being a weak spot- he got Connor Brown…if that’s not an improvement to those two areas- I don’t know what is

Last I checked you can’t win when you don’t play. The Kings could’ve played with an empty net and the score wouldn’t be any different.

Sure.

But it’s a one or zero goal game with a better goalie giving the team an opportunity to adjust while not being too far behind. But he didn’t make those saves, so.

Dubois isn't an upgrade over Vilardi. The Kings growth comes from Byfield, Moore, and Spence taking the next step in their careers. Imagine if they had the same patience with Vilardi.
Let's see how those players look in the second half. Also, Cam Talbot leading a team to the cup? Zero chance.

Villardi was injured at least half the time. Being injured once agian late season and missing some of playoffs, again, was the last straw. Plus its back injuries, stuff that doesn't go away and only gets worse. Villardi has missed half the games in Winnipeg now. He's an excellent player, but the jury was about his ability to ever be healthy for long.

Dubois is a stong as an OX center on a team strong on centers. He's overpaid, sure, but he's playing with Laferriere, and Kaliyev and holding the fort. Basically holding up two bottom line players.

In purgatory
Brutal non call on McDavid being hooked when he did a give and go on the side of the net. The Kings announcers showed it and said that it was good D by Doughty while the stick from the forward was all up in McDavid's business.

I hate to say it, but IMO McDavid has been looking injured since he got dumped by Mike McLeod in our 1st game against NJ. Also I think he still has an issue with his hand(s) because he really looks off far too many shots after developing a much better shooting mentality last season. Bottom line is if he's not going to be 100% this season then this season is a write off.
When has it not been like that though? If McDavid / Draisaitl are not playing out of their minds all season, this team has never, ever had the depth to resemble any semblance of a competitive team otherwise. How many f***ing seasons have the clownshows in management and scouting dicked around, and never built a team and developed players from drafting to surround those two with?

Just unreal how they've run through multiple front office changes and still can't find competent, never mind top flight, people to run things. Problems start right from the owner and dribble on down.

Leo needs to wake the f*** up. Tired of his play away from the puck. Lazy as shit. Fly bys everything. Never shares his big frame. Plays small unless hes fending off someone with a puck. Knob has done nothing to fix his game. But if he gets a point or two many think hes just great. Hes not….hes shitty and lazy

How to break the 1-3-1? Fire a howitzer at the LD from the red line and collect the puck as he collapses to the ice in agony.
I really wish the nhl would do away with any and all trap formations. Penalize it for all I care. It’s terrible for the game. ZzzzzzZ

I'm not blaming Stu for our lack of offence or the score. But that 2nd goal sucked.
That was a terrible goal. Does Schwartz just coach goalies to get the body in front of the shot- and anything outside of your body just leave it? Makes sense since Mike Smith had his coach un-teach that after his first year in Edmonton

The rate things are going the Oilers will get shutout. They didn’t even try that period.

Correct. Would be nice if they had a smaller margin to try and overcome, but they don’t because a relatively routine glove save off the wall couldn’t be made.

Can confirm. I've had back pain since I was a kid and it always flares up whenever one of my friends needs help moving for some reason.

lol you kidding? Like what are people watching here? We’re lucky to only be down 2.
Talk about a low bar. It's not like they had 20 shots on net or 10 in the slot ffs. I swear it's no wonder Schwartz has a lifetime job when that period is seen as "good goaltending". Again, average at best.

I agree with you but its ebbs and flows, teams will have bad periods. An elite goalie could have saved both of those shots and kept its team in it despite a horrible period. Its something the Oilers lack for sure.
