MAF, after a vezina season, got traded got traded for nothing.

Goalies dont hold value, goalies nearing 30 even less. Goalies nearing 30 on cap strapped teams even less

I know you know the differences between these two examples and it’s tiring to have people trumpet the same points and counterpoints over and over again.

This has been discussed before. MAF was like 7 yrs older on an expiring contract with 2 million more on his deal. Ullmark is young with two years at an easy to handle 5 per year. Huge difference.

I don't think that is really the point, though. Vegas got nothing for Fleury because they were in an awful cap situation where they literally had to move Fleury out for cap space. It had nothing to do with what kind of value Fleury had with his age or contract, the price was entirely driven by their cap situation.

My point exactly

Other GM smell blood in the water too. When you deal from a position of weakness you lose.

The Bruins don’t need to move a goalie. The Bruins don’t need to move a goalie. The Bruins don’t need to move a goalie.
Until Sway asks for his value contract at 4ish right?

Bruins cant afford to add 2 top C and 10M in nets

Zacha will shift over and take over for Krejci. Zacha was the Bruins #2 5 on 5 scorer above everyone but Pastrnak, including Krejci. That will be fine. If Bergeron comes back they are set. If not they are either going after PLD and moving Ullmark would have to make sense to make that happen…e.g. they need some quality Ullmark assets back to make a deal…or they wait one more year until way more teams have cap and it’s NBD.

This is such a weak argument. Yes the Bruins have cap concerns. Would a fan base be happy that they didn't get the number one goalie they needed because their gm thought they had the Bruins right where they wanted them and they quickly moved on to the team with the realistic offer? There is a good goalie market this year. Some good ones available and lots of teams wanting the best one available. If Ullmark isn't the best one out there he's certainly a close second.

Best one or bot doesn't reallt matter.

Of the price for Ullmark is more than the2nd rder 4.2M OS compensation they can make Swayman, they'll pass.

Maybe Yamamoto is one of the pieces they send to Winnipeg. Yamo dealt, Campbell bought out, plus their existing space is something like $11m.

They could add Ullmark (or Sway), JDB and still have $2m in cap space accruing for a deadline deal.
Still got to sign Bouchard, McLeod, Kostin and maybe Janmark or replace him with Brown.

Product of the team he played behind. He’s a good goalie but nowhere near the vezina candidate we saw this past season. I’d be very nervous if my team acquired him
He always put up great numbers on a bad Buffalo team. He as legit as they come.

If Ullmark *wanted* to come back, Sabres should welcome him with open arms... as long as the price is right. No interest in helping the Bruins out of cap-hell.
Fans always say this. Damn the other team if it makes your team better. a GM job is to make his team better and they don't avoid dealing with a team because it make help them some .

Ulmark won’t be coming back to Sabres IMO
