Product of the team he played behind. He’s a good goalie but nowhere near the vezina candidate we saw this past season. I’d be very nervous if my team acquired him

So, 2 years ago when the Bruins signed him I thought he would be a steal (he was a good goalie in Buffalo in front of a terrible team)

Then his fiest year in Boston happened and I questioned the move because Swayman was there. But he was good. And this year he had amazing stats.

Depends on the price paid, but the guy is a solid starter on a very reasonable contract. He moght not win another Vezina, but at 5M for two years, the risk is low for an extravagant deception

Why haven't the Bruins bought out Reilly? Seems like a no brainer and saves $2.67 million next season.
It does seem odd. They have until the 30th, but what's the hold up? It doesn't seem worth it to attach him to another player, you weaken an asset just to save $333k. It doesn't make sense to retain money in a trade because you couldn't clear as much as if you buy him out.

Are the Bruins really looking to move Ullmark for futures? Aren't ya in win now mode? Who are your C's next year?
They won the regular season then shit the bed, now they have limited cap space, traded near futures, and probably need to make changes.

Aside from paying to take players that have no value, may take a listen on some players that would likely not be shopped under regular circumstances.

That said, they likely are taking a hit on the return, but if there are two buyers could bring it to a reasonable return.

I feel like Pittsburgh and Carolina may be the only teams not within the Bruins division that would have significant interest in Ullmark and have the cap space to be able to take him on without sending money out.

If I was Carolina, I'd angle to get Hall and Ullmark for essentially free (assuming those are two players that Boston is looking at to shed salary.)

It's a one stop shop and you've removed $11M in one go.

Carolina's only issue is Aho, Necas, Pesce need extending this summer so there is a year of overlap for those two players coming in and taking away $11M from their cap space. I have full belief Carolina could make it work, it's just a matter of Boston being hellbent on acquiring cap space.

Maybe Yamamoto is one of the pieces they send to Winnipeg. Yamo dealt, Campbell bought out, plus their existing space is something like $11m.

They could add Ullmark (or Sway), JDB and still have $2m in cap space accruing for a deadline deal.
I feel like Winnipeg has already done the Oilers enough favours in this ridiculous scenario. A late first next year and two late seconds, one of which is also next year is not going to be the best offer for PLD. We're certainly not taking a cap dump on top of it.

That assumes that they'll find a team willing to meet their price on Hellebuyck this off-season, which is not guaranteed at all.

I mean, he's a UFA next summer. They can't sit on their hands forever waiting for some team to overpay them.

Fair enough. I haven't seen any reason to think otherwise, so I'll continue to believe he would.
Well, he has a 16 team ntc. He sees Levi entering the fray here in Buffalo. I do not see Ullmark agreeing to come to Buffalo for a couple seasons just to groom the player that will take his job or act as a filler until that player is more acclimated to the NHL game while Ullmark himself wants to be goalie #1 for an organization. Ullmark wants to be a teams #1 goalie, as all goalies do. I do not believe for 1 second Ullmark finds this type of situation acceptable, not while there are other options available that are most certainly more conducive to his career needs. Do you?

Well you did not watch many Bruins games because with Montys system Ull and Sway were left bare ass many of times and they saved the teams bacon........

On the one hand he is coming from the exact same situation…it was always the plan for Swayman to take over. All the “goalie hug” stuff formed from them being honest about the situation and talking it out etc… so why wouldn’t he do it again?

On the other hand he broke out during that time period so why would he do it again?
