I tried. I didn't expect to win.Easy decline from the Isles especially based on what other teams are offering.
the ''win now'' Isles , hmm
how about something around Weeger and Kads (retained) with Dobber and Pageau headed west
Thank you for your insights, Gaylord Q TinkledinkIf he is, indeed available Montreal is one of the 31 teams interested.
Adding barzal means the Canucks won’t be cap compliant, I think it’s too messy to add a piece like barzal in here. If the Canucks season sours in the playoffs and EP underperforms, I can see an EP for Dobson trade next summer, small adds if need be.
Someone posted up on a EP and hoglander for Dobson and Nelson, I think this is the most logical proposalBarzal sort of replaces EP...without him in the deal, the Canucks would still need a second line centre otherwise as they are competing now. Trading EP for Dobson alone would make the Canucks much worse. A big part of this trade is because the op thought the Islanders may go in a different direction and maybe wouldn't want to commit huge dollars to Dobson who is having an up and down season (along with Barzal and Pettersson). Isles get a franchise centre and Canucks get a solid top pair Dman and a solid 1B/second line centre.
Cap wise, Barzal = $9.15; Dobson = $4M (for now); total = $13.15...Pettersson = $11.6M so the Canucks need to create $1.55M of space which I believe they would have by waiving the RD who is losing their spot to Dobson along with what they left in space.
I gotta say, I'm a little shocked to see so many Canucks fans offering up EP. What's going on with him?Someone posted up on a EP and hoglander for Dobson and Nelson, I think this is the most logical proposal

He got paid. He might come around, and EP will be given leeway, but if he doesn’t start remotely playing like a 11.5 million dollar player Canuck management will explore.I gotta say, I'm a little shocked to see so many Canucks fans offering up EP. What's going on with him?

Montreal (fans proposals) however think Josh Anderson/Brendan Gallagher, a top 25 protected 1st and some C prospect of a fair offer for Dobson. If he is, indeed available Montreal is one of the 31 teams interested.
11.6 million on the cap. Possible that he hasn't made a full recovery on those injuries as well.I gotta say, I'm a little shocked to see so many Canucks fans offering up EP. What's going on with him?
That's true, but not me.Montreal (fans proposals) however think Josh Anderson/Brendan Gallagher, a top 25 protected 1st and some C prospect of a fair offer for Dobson.
Had to check puckpedia to see contracts. If Savard had term, I wouldn’t even touch that contract. The Islanders need high end prospects and 1sts they can develop for the future. The Habs however won’t give up either of those honestly since those are the upper echelon. Those overhyped prospects because a specific team has them (I.e. Nick Robertson or similar) won’t do it.That's true, but not me.
The "cap dump" going back might be Savard, so really a player to still help the Islanders be competitive and getting other assets with him and if things don't work out, he can be dealt for a 2nd +, or maybe a 1st at the deadline.
That's of course today. If there is an opening to trade Dobson it's likely in the off-season, or trade deadline where Savard makes 0 sense, unless the Habs retain, then the Islanders retain to make him super cheap and get more assets for the Islanders.
So, if the Islanders were to deal him, what would be the targets the Islanders are looking for ? Forwards, futures, picks, a combination of everything
Probably a big mix of stuff from a team at the end of a rebuild that may have some surplusThat's true, but not me.

You have been trying to offload Trouba for years. His wife is still in school. An anchor to drag around, until the end.Panarin 11.6+ x 2 retained 5.6+ to 6 even
Trouba 8 x 2 retained 3.0 to 5 even
for
Dobson + raty
presumes both waive b'c LI is close enuf
bread not sniffing 11+ w/Rs
he will not leave now -- local NJ/LI possible exception -- but will waive before last min to avoid ugly look if he is not extended
Trouba has been good but we have elc Mancini + want cap space
next season, his wife finishing current commitments, Trouba nets nice return prob from DET
bread you get dibs on if you want to extend and how much, and
if you need a short term cap dump for balance, we may be able to add
He backed out on team option to deal this yr, that's true but that's apparently b'c wife has some professional commitment thru this seasonYou have been trying to offload Trouba for years. His wife is still in school. An anchor to drag around, until the end.
dobbie!A sock hidden in a book.
probably gets outbid if he were to hit the marketDepending on the ask from Dobson for a contract I'd start with Reinbacher and Calgary/Florida's 1st.
The Calgary/Flames 1st for what's left...
If both finish 11th, or higher the Habs get the better pick.
If either finishes 10th, or below the Habs get the pick outside the top 10.
If both finish 10 top, the Habs get the Flames pick unprotected in 2026.
So, I'm not sure what to think of Calgary at this point, but I'd say that 1st will be around 15th.
Habs upgrade Reinbacher to Dobson. Guhle and Dobson can be a pairing allowing Dobson to be more offensive driven.
A 2nd pairing/#4 RHD still isn't cheap, but could be Mailloux, or another trade/UFA signing.
That's what I'd be going for unless Dobson wants like 12 mill, which I can't see
It always was.Since this thread was started the Isles have played two games and Dobson's TOI has been 28+ minutes and 30+ minutes. So I'm thinking this is an academic exercise.
