The defense is not trash, and there isn't a country club. This team can still make the playoffs. They do need a goalie, though.

This team is not making the playoffs. They were at 46% to make it after the win against the Avs this likely drops it.

The defense isn't bad. The goaltending is horrible though and has to be addressed, but Tom is a useless f***.

That's why on one hand wins are a DUMB stat involving goalies. We're gonna look at this COWARD in 20 years from now and laugh that he's the only goalie other than Brodeur (and hopefully a few others by then) to win 30+ games in a season. Or that he was the first goalie after Brodeur to win 30 games with the team lol.

And his one dumb shit playoff win will be a real WTF footnote in team history.

A handful of things can be true:

1. Fitz bears responsibility for not acting sooner on Ruff / Goalie.

2. Fitz got us here and deserve a lot of rope given the young core.

3. 23-24 is probably a lost season and trying to double down on an outside playoff chance is a mismanagement of assets.

I agree with everything BUT 3. This team has been hanging around a playoff spot for some time now with the goaltending being the #1 problem.

Fitz is watching the same BS that we are. It's his job to fix it.

Team needs to go 20-10-4 to get to 96 points which seems like a pipe dream considering the facts:

first goal allowed in roughly 70 percent of the games
Below 900 goal tending
18 and a 19 year old eating tough minutes
Missing Hamilton and Siegs
Haven’t won 4 games in a row all year.

That with the d maturing. Unfortunately, that takes time. The majority of us want a change in goal, but who? Who realistically could be available that will move the needle where we need it?

Any time you are down 2 or more with less than 10 minutes to play, imo. But that's just an opinion. It's impossible to actually quantify, like a lot of advanced stats are in games like hockey.

Sure it's subjective, but I think you can easily see that Calgary wasn't just sitting back hoping to cling on to a one goal win. When the other team is smoking you and then just sitting back waiting for the clock to run out, and you score some goals...that's "garbage time" non-sense that I woudn't put a lot stock into.

That's not the kind of game this was.

Bratt and Nemec/Luke's development are basically the only positives from this season

maybe Hatakka continues being solid and can be what we thought Bahl was. Otherwise? Just a big ol' turd.

Holtz looks like he's going to be a contributor moving forward. I think he's largely been a positive. I get that he's still not a good all around player, but some guys are never going to be that. He plays with a ton more urgency now though

Addressing goaltending in season is very challenging. Don't envy Fitzgerald having to do something about it, but he does.

I’m not even going to worry about a Philly team that is possibly selling and down a goalie. If we can’t pass them, we don’t deserve to make it. Beating out Tampa and Pittsburgh is the real challenge. I guess the islanders if they add at the deadline too.

Lindy actually said he had a tough game and thought of pulling him after the 3rd. That was the least I've ever seen of Lindy defending him actually.
