I’m not even going to worry about a Philly team that is possibly selling and down a goalie. If we can’t pass them, we don’t deserve to make it. Beating out Tampa and Pittsburgh is the real challenge. I guess the islanders if they add at the deadline too.

Tampa looks absolutely brutal last night and tonight.

Detroit, who knows.

It’s still right there IF NJ gets better goaltending but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen unfortunately.

Say what you want about Cory Schneider, but he was one of the most professional personalities we ever had in this organization.

He called himself out after every loss. Even if he didn't play bad. If we lost 1-0 (and it happened quite a bunch), he was blaming himself for not making one more save.

Now we have this CHUMP. Who hides in the back when the media comes out. Either dropping a deuce or in the shower, chomping away at the post game spread. f***, maybe he's even in his car already leaving the building?

I bet if Kadri took a shot at him he would probably hide. I bet he's afraid of him like he's afraid of the media this year.

Bleed red so we are down in goals by 3 so why not pull Vanacek and put is Dawes. Going to lose anyway because Vanacek is a lousy goalie.

The frustrating thing is that it’s really not very hard to see this team being really good very shortly. Outside of goalie, at least. It’s just not happening this year.

We will need to learn to play more aggressively and with more of an edge. That’s often been missing this year. We will also need to get more physical. The two go together. I don’t think we take the next step without that. I expect Luke will be heavier and stronger next year. Nemec too.

And of course we need to bring in better goal tending. Do those things and we can be a contender.

My last hope is this stretch. I knew these first 3 games after ASG would be tough, but this is the stretch I have had my eye on. It’s where they can finally put a streak together for the first time this season.

That goaltending was abysmal. Just abysmal.

I like what Fitz has done to lock up this core and rebuild the D from where it was. But this season leaves me questioning whether he has the killer instinct to be a Cup winning GM. He needed to make the courageous move of upgrading the coaching right after a historic season, but he chose to take the safe route and retain a coach that isn't Cup caliber and in the process also downgraded the rest of the coaching staff/future HC prospects.

I don't directly blame him for the goaltending situation as I can see how it's an incredibly challenging issue to address, but it's a bad look when combined with the coaching staff failure.

I rarely see VV interviewed. Can the Devils actually “protect him from the media?” If this is the case, the guy is more mentally broken, if possible, than I even thought. Take some damn ownership, step up and face the music.
