Yes Bratt hasn't been good, no denying this.
im inclined to think its a coaching issue moreso than a player issue

losing two top-6 centers is crazy hard to deal with.. but our roster thereafter is still worthy of .500 hockey i think

i think last year we were really healthy and the skill culminating (finally!) overshadowed Ruff's issues. controversial, but i also think NY lost that series more than we won it

but, to be fair to Ruff somewhat (even if im not a fan of his for this team) i think the team is playing far too safe in the name of defense; the roster without Nico and Jack isnt offensively inept, so i dont like that most have a less-aggressive attitude toward attacking the puck

they wont be firing Ruff!! so its on the guys to figure it out.. or Jack and Nico get and stay healthy and they will themselves through the troubles again; either way ill take some more Ws going forward thanks!

If you give up 6 goals on 2.4 expected goals, you’re going to lose. Period.

Fitz felt that he didn’t want to pay the price to address goaltending and they’re paying for it. That’s it.

Really the only true positives over the past 3-4 games are McLeod emerging as a legit top three line center. And Meier/Mercer seeming to get on track.

Last season the forecheck through team speed was relentless. Teams would trapped in their end for entire shifts.
face it, this team is slower and it’s not a stretch to say the defense looks good when the forward group is puck hounding.

And like clockwork. Blackwood save on a 2-on-0 to start the game against Florida.

But Buccigross and another ex-women's hockey player calling the game.

Can't do it.

We never win here, so there’s that. We lost here 1-6 in April last season.

The 3 wins:
2-1 SO W (Nov 5 2019)
3-1 W (Jan 23 2016)
3-2 SO W (Mar 10 2013)

Didn't they win everywhere in Canada last season except for Winnipeg? They never win there. Knew this game would play out similarly. Keep rationalizing the L's bc being down Nico and Jack is tough and would discombobulate things and make it tougher on a defense we knew would have growing pains early on in the season. But really hard to watch the breakdowns happen. And just know it's a GA. Meh hopefully they get through the rough patch.

Goaltending wasn't the biggest problem tonight. I'd have to see them again to be sure, but I don't think any of the goals on Schmid were soft.

You'd like to see him rob a couple of them, but I think even Prime Hasek gets 3+ scored on him tonight.

The defensive breakdowns were the bigger issue for me. Both Siegenthaler and Bahl got abused and directly caused a goal against.

Nico was barely even doing anything himself before the injury. It was all Jack. Fourteen games in and they have done nothing to show they can play well enough to win without him carrying them. This is ugly ugly ugly.
Record with and without Nico.

Consider who is playing center with those guys out.

Everyone wanted to run Blackwood out of town. And I get it, he’s a streaky head case who’s injury prone. But he was the best option we had.

Dev's win 3.6 to 2.7.

Sorry, but I don't think it's a great "stat".
Winnipeg didn’t do a whole lot. Some good fortune (fluttering puck finds its way in, Siegs blows a tire on the PP). One egregious breakdown, got pinned in once when the turd line failed to clear it. It wasn’t like against Colorado.

And once again we didn’t finish well enough at 5 on 5.
