Including the game that Hughes left injured in the 1st period, Bratt has a 73% xGF. He has not been on the ice for a goal against. His line is shooting 4%.

PDO just warps everyone's perception of how everything is going.
He has 7 shots in the last 5 games.

Regardless of production, luck or whatever, 1.4 shots per game isn't enough. Period. If Jack was in the lineup, it wouldn't be enough... with Jack out it's a glaring inadequacy.

I’m curious if throwing Miller and Nemec in helps with the transition. This teams best defense is when the transition and ozone play is strong
I don't even really think the transition game is the issue but having Nemec over Smith would be better in all probability. Miller most likely too. The coverages in the defensive zone are not great and our goaltending has been below average. Those are the problems.

Giving up 6 goals is a bad formula for winning. Something is wrong besides goaltending. Their defense structure has been bad since game one. Jack and Nico will help. However, if they don’t play a better defensive game I don’t see them making the playoffs. Could losing two veteran defensemen have made such a difference? I don’t know if this is on the coach alone or it’s also the players not giving their best effort on the defensive aspect of the game. Fitz won’t do anything until both Jack and Nico are back. And presently teams would want a ransom to trade with them for a goalkeeper. What to do?

Basically the same point I just made.

And I point a finger at Lindy for this.

He seemingly is just letting Bratt do his thing which is fine...IF the team was completely healthy.

But in situations where we are missing a huge chunk of our offense (and we need scoring from anywhere), we need Bratt to fire away.

For him not to be even double-digits in shot attempts after 5 games is unacceptable.

Feels like the deserve to win o meter was way too generous to us this game, as well as last game.

Both games felt very much like we started to roll after score effects.

There was a point about halfway through this game where we were being outshot 17-10 and were down 2-0. We kicked it into gear when trailing. Same thing happened in the 3rd period.

It was very similar in the Capitals game.

I don't think we really we have won last night's game 70% of the time or 69% or whatever it was. I thought that thing takes into account things like score effects, but we were dead for the first half of that game and were dead for about 66% of the game before that. We caught up on shots after we were out of the game.

I do think we evened up the shots in the 2nd at one point around when we made it 2-2, but I can't say we were nearly the better team.

We were also really bad against Washington, especially after the bad goalie got taken out of the game after sinking us. We woke up after it was already 3-0.

Woah woah woah...this can't be an accurate observation...xG says otherwise and any view to the contrary is strictly driven by your perceptions as a fan. There's no way that something like score effects could be influencing the conclusions drawn from advanced stats. Also it's rare that xG doesn't line up with eye test...this was an anomaly, you're totally wrong about any other game other than this one.

Is this just gonna be the shtick until we go on a win streak? God help us if we lose a couple more. Most people want to just enjoy the games and not be pestered about how fundamentally flawed you think the team and advanced stats in general are.

Is it any more of a shtick then referencing deserve to win meters?

It's frustrating trying to engage in a meaningful discussion about where this team is at only to be dismissed based on a flawed statistic.

It's like trying to argue with someone ten years ago citing plus/minus as a reliable indicator of performance with no regard for context or the inherent flaws.

So excuse me for expressing my frustration this way.

You are not being silenced, you’ve been venting for quite a while. We know, team is actually not good and stats don’t mean anything for this team. Okay, we got it.

Nope, there are actually a few of us who point out issues even during the win streak, which funny enough, gets countered with stuff related to "we're on a win streak". Stop acting like this frustration is a result of a losing streak. It's not. These issues are irrelevant of the win/loss of games and more of a fundamental issue that will prevent this team from being a cup contender.

It's a graphic. Chill. Nobody is claiming it's the be all, end all of stats. I also see plenty of criticism of the team in this thread. It's not all rainbows and unicorns and brave heroes who dare to "just tell it like it is" being summarily dismissed with graphics.

Didn't read the whole thread, team blows again. Can't wait to see Smith off this team permanently, guy sucks as it is and can't even win a fight he should easily win.

What I want to know is why JR is all of a sudden on an Anti-Bratt roll?

He complains that Bratt isn't being criticized yet he gets smart with me even when I do criticize him (Bratt).

EDIT : Good talk. :sarcasm:
