So...I haven't been paying much attention to the GDT lately (though I did see the game and I'm still euphoric after seeing JBITBPITNHL have himself a night).

But did everyone agree with the 3 stars of the game?

I mean...don't get me wrong : Markstrom was solid in net last night but....I don't know about him being 1st star.

I would've given the 3 stars (in order) to :

1.) Bratt
2.) Markstrom
3.) Hughes (Jack)

Bratt, Noesen, Hamilton (no particular order)

It was his 500th game. Everyone wore t-shirts.

Like I said, I haven't been paying much attention to the GDT lately.

So we're celebrating a player's Longevity in his position instead of the impact he has on last night's game?

I mean...I thought the "3 stars of the game" were the players who had the most impact?

And while Markstrom was strong, no way he had more of an impact than Bratt (or even Jack, for that matter).

Hell, an argument can be made that Markstrom doesn't even belong on that list but instead it would be like your list.

They could've just put a graphic at the JumboTron or something celebrating Markstrom's 500th game instead of giving him a spot in the 3 stars. :dunno:

Seems they were hell-bent on getting him onto the ice for a post-game interview no matter what, huh?

meh..whatever.

They, meaning the team, did put it on Jumbotron and it got coverage.

Media in attendance picks the stars.

They may have simply wanted him to have the on-ice interview and to get to be in the spotlight.

Not sure people care a whole lot about Stars of the Game.

If it seems like I'm annoyed that Markstrom was the 1st star instead of Bratt, it's because I am. :p:

I know some people don't care a whole lot about the Stars of the Game but I sure as hell do because it recognizes particular player's efforts in THAT PARTICULAR GAME.

And with all due respect to Markstrom, I would rank him as maybe the 4th star of the game behind Bratt, Jack, and a tie between Noesen and Dougie in terms of impact.

A really good win in an important game against an excellent opponent. The big guns had to come though in games like this and they certainly did. The first two assist by Jack were absolutely insane. The one on Brett's goal was one of the best I've ever seen. None of the TV guys picked it up at first, it was so lightning quick. Awesome play.

Was there last night, thankfully, and it really was one of the strongest overall performances I've been to live in a minute. They honestly could've had a bunch of other goals if they were able to finish connecting on a final pass to players heading toward the net, but credit to Carolina that they know how to snuff out chances before they get out of hand...which is what made the power play getting the job done so important, too.

Sure, Canes played the night before, but there's no denying how ready this team was for them and for Florida, which speaks well of the coaching. The big step is to see how they perform consistently for a bit now that the schedule is finally getting to something resembling normal; it's still hard to gauge some things this year based on how condensed the calendar's been, so a strong next month or so with more time between games would silence most doubts.

Bad for hockey, good for Devils to play against Ovechkinless caps next. But we should continue to gain points now.

good game. Looks like with time players are doing better and better under Keefe. Noesen is exactly what Keefe likes - he did great job with Hyman and Bunting - different level of talent, same role. Too bad we dont have this type of a player in the long term perspective with better talent.

With how bad WC2 is going to be in comparison to the other 7 playoff teams this year the 1 seed is going to be pretty huge. It’s unlikely we take the conference but this game and the Florida ones were very important to keeping that possibility alive
No reason why we can’t be #1 seed. There a 1.5 games back of Carolina with 2 head to head games left and 3/4 of a season to go. Pretty much anything is on the table

That second period was some of the best play we have had against the Canes over the last few years. Great stuff.

Awesome play by Mercer and Tatar on the Dougie goal.

And regardless of the goals, its nice to see a consistently dangerous power play against the Canes. In the past it felt like we were the team on the penalty kill the whole time.

Finally, I am cracking up over Dano's initial inability to realize Jack made that pass on the first goal. That whole fumbling ordeal lasted a lot longer than it should have lol.

I think it's now beyond any doubt that this is a really good hockey team. I'd like to see an add to the 4th line, but other than that we're in really great shape. We can clearly go toe-to-toe with anyone in the league, and I don't think anyone in hockey wants to play us in a 7 game series.

Remember all the doomers freaking out because the players hadn't learned a new system with basically zero training camp and we were missing a whole second pairing? God they look like a bunch of dumbasses now, don't they?

The most important thing at this point is remaining healthy. Hopefully we see some further refinement over the rest of the season with regards to the slow starts and some of the silly stuff. I don't like how often out losses are shutouts, hopefully we can find some ways to generate offense in these low-event games.
