If Trouba is dealt, WPG fans will not be happy with the return. Trouba will not be dealt.

If Trouba was traded, no Jets fans will not be happy b/c we know there isn't any LHD of equal talent (& young) currently on the market we would get as return. But without question we would get very good value for Trouba, just in an area that isn't currently a great need (forward). Thus all Jets fans truely want Trouba signed long term, this is the best possible outcome for the Jets.

Not familiar with the situation. Is there any reason/indication to believe Trouba won't sign long term? I've seen things here and there but nothing substantial.

The Jets have re-signed other important FA's in late August / early September before. Never mind mentioning the hundreds of times this has happened with other franchises and FA's.

So no need for "sky is falling" panic level.
The World Cup training camps provides one deadline.
The NHL camps after that provide the next deadline.
Assume all will be quiet until those choke points.

Is WPG willing to trade a LHD and Trouba for a LHD and a forward? Or something like

Trouba
LHD
FWD

for

LHD
LHD
FWD

unfortunately the jets don't have a LD available to trade, as Enstrom is the only decent one and he has a no movement clause.

Ya I know, there's always that rfa that is supposedly not going to sign and they always end up signing. Was just wondering if Jet's fans were actually contemplating moving him as a possibility or if it was more of a media driven thing.

Almost every narrative in the NHL is media-driven; that this one has the legs it has, even though neither party is saying boo to anyone, is absurd.

Is Enstrom available despite the NMC or does he have the NMC because he has no intention of waiving it.

Two deals in this thread that I could easily stomach if it needed to be done:

Trouba to Edmonton for Klefbom

OR

Trouba to T.O. for Gardiner and Valiev

I prefer the Toronto deal. We get a quality LHD who is young enough (not ideal, but not disastrous either), on a real solid deal. Gardiner and Morrisey in whatever order could conceivably take over on the top-4 on the left side when Toby is done. It's not a world-beating crew, but the Jets aren't looking like they are building to win games 2-1. Valiev is another good piece to tuck away in the pantry.

All of that said, Klefbom is a real nice player and would satisfy what I would be looking for in return. In a perfect world, it would be Toronto offering Klefbom.

I would think about it for a second, but I need Rielly coming back to do it. Gardiner isn't a good enough replacement for Trouba. Whether or not you want to accept that opinion, it's up to you, but it's just how it is.

there is absolutely no way the leafs move their future captain, a guy locked up for 6 years at 5 mill per.

2 years ago a case could be made. rielly has improved every year while trouba hasnt. Gardiner + is possible, Rielly isnt

Sekera and 2017 1st/Reinhart+2nd for Trouba.

I add Reinhart + 2nd if they want a someone that is more NHL ready.

Nurse/Pouliot for Trouba/Burmistrov (or a servivable 3rd liner under 2 mil)

Any deal with the Oilers would have to involve close to even salary because of all the bonuses they have. I assume Trouba will cost around 5-6 mil long term.

First of all, any deal with Edmonton would have to include Klefbom. Nurse doesn't start the discussion, no matter what way you slice it. Sekera makes no sense for us, Larsson isn't moving. Doesn't leave anything else to the table. Also, no interest in Reinhart or picks and magic beans.

And we are not taking cap dumps back. Salary can be moved, but most of it will come back with the defenseman who replaces Trouba. Guys like Pouliot are heavy cap dumps for us, since we don't have any room for more forwards.

If the Rangers are committed to a retool, I could see something like McDonagh + Zuccarello + ? For Trouba + Enstrom + ?

Reinhart + 2nd sounds fair.
