You guys start with andersen and an AHLer, as soon as Luongo is declared fit for fighting you can have him for a mid pick, or a quality AHL scorer

Meh, I'd probably do it. It's not like we're contending and Berra is a decent long term backup option.

No interest in Pavs. If I'm trading for a bad contract it's in a position of need and not goaltending. Someone like Marc Staa makes more sense.

Why wouldn't we just keep Bernier?

Pretty sure this was done just to give commander sparks the backup job, we will need his leadership at the end of the season to lead us to last place.

If the isles don't move Halak then wait for Berube to hit waivers and claim him.

I like Berube a lot. He showed a lot with the isles last year but there is no way the isles keep 3 goalies on the roster.

Lamoriello said they would acquire (trade or sign) a backup goaltender.

They didn't want Berniers 4M cap hit first of all, and second of all, the Leafs new execs and the coaches didn't like him very much.

It makes sense to trade a depth veteran like Michalek that has zero future with us considering our young forward depth and turn that into a goaltender, which is needed now.

They don't want the 4.1M cap hit.

Lou has already stated that they're going to acquire a back-up.

Goalies Id look at in UFA include: Scrivens, Khudobin, Ramo and my personal favourite Enroth.

We can probably get Berra off waivers when the season is about to start.

Khudobin (quietly) signed a 2 year deal with the Bruins on July 1st. Maybe it was just me, but I didn't spot that until a day later.

Luongo had hip surgery after the playoffs and might be on the shelf until November. So it's expected that Reimer/Berra will be the goalie tandem in Florida for at least the first month of the season.

Not sure if Lou would have any interest in the Devils backups Keith Kinkaid / Scott Wedgewood. Neither would be a particularly sexy option, but Lou would be familiar with both.

Pavelec is actually not a bad idea.

We can basically get him for free and by backup goalie standards he's pretty good. If he falters at any point OR if another team gets a goalie injury, we could waive/trade him and call up Sparks.

Thats all fine and well, but trading Michalek for Pavelec means the Leafs still need to acquire a goalie. I want nothing to do with Pavelec, would rather just call up Sparks instead if thats really the best the Leafs can do. If the Jets want to attach a pick or prospect (they probably won't) then sure, but hell no to a 1 for 1. $4m Middle 6 winger > $4m AHL goalie.

Ideally they sign Enroth or Ortio and call it a day.

YWG -> YXY -> YEG
To Winnipeg:
Milan Michalek

To Toronto:
Ondrej Pavelec

Meh. Jets are going to struggle to find enough playing time for some of our prospects as is. We have enough veteran leadership in the room from guys like Wheeler, Little, Byfuglien.

I'd be happier if it went something like:

To Winnipeg: 2017 4th round pick

To Toronto: Ondrej Pavelec (50% salary retained)

Subban for Lindberg+3rd

Done. Or how about Corrado/Holland+3rd :naughty:

I guess management is expecting the Finnish goalie to play with the Solar Bears? Because Sparks is a beast in the AHL... Not a big fan of Bibeau though.

Enroth is clearly the #1 UFA available though.

That value is terrible... Subban requires expansion draft protection next year, so I doubt we expend the assets needed to acquire him. Probably looking at a lessor trade.

Forgot about this. Yea no point of protecting two goalies, no thanks to the offer.

Sparks isn't even under contract yet it likely isn't him.
