running around hitting people and getting suspended doesn't count as an all around game. his defensive metrics are poorAnd only ROR rivals his all around game out of that group.

Maybe the fact the plays PK#1 and is on the ice for at the end of games holding a 1 goal lead?Where is this myth coming from that Wilson is somehow amazing defensively![]()
His leverage was his playoffs. What was the other option?Even if Wilson goes out and puts up 50 points....that STILL doesn't change the fact that the Caps should've gotten him on a better deal.
Look at his stats...he had NO leverage.
Again, Wilson plays PK#1 and is always on the ice to hold a late 1 goal lead. His penalty killing against Tampa in game 6 holding onto a lead and needing a win was masterful, and just one example of his defensive effectiveness.running around hitting people and getting suspended doesn't count as an all around game. his defensive metrics are poor
if you think people have a problem with it because it's 5.1 and not 5 on the dot I don't even know what to say. For real?

If you actually care, go watch his penalty killing late in game 6 against Tampa. He dominated.
See you in a couple years complaining about that deal.Solid deal. Glad to have him locked up long term, he was a monster all playoffs long.
People in this thread need to stop repeating this. I understand he got that contract off an unreal playoffs, but who saw him developing MS almost immediately after? We have no idea how it would have turned out if he had been healthy.
Obviously it’s a big contract for what Tom Wilson has shown this far but you’re not gonna find many people who will hate it outright among Caps fans.
Tom Wilson is a one of a kind player, no matter what opposing fans want to say. Topped with the fact that he just put up 15 points in 21 playoff games and showed significant progression in his game, there’s no reason to be upset until given an actual reason to be.
His leverage was his playoffs. What was the other option?
To not sign him to a bad deal? His leverage was his playoffs. What was the other option?
We would have had to overpay Lindholm as well. Also not having to pay Hanifin like a top pairing guy even though his play isn't even close to warranting that helps too.Carolina, get ready to overpay for Michael Ferland in 2019
It's really not that bad for the guy. He isn't a complete scrub like people make him out to be.
