Seems like a fair deal. Kyrou is going to bounce back and I think McMichael is something of a tweener so it kind of is like 3 really solid assets for a proven 1st liner scorer who had a bad counting stats year.

Thanks. STL does have a fair amount of C's so that'll work.

If he's a 2nd line winger that basically fill the hole given how Kyrou played last year.

I guess Caps think his 57 point season was an outlier but even if it is then he's still a good young 2nd line winger who can play some centre.

PLD and kyrou on the same team, oof
PLD has been a horse for the Capitals since joining the team, has been their matchup center when healthy and excellent on both sides of the puck, and been a positive locker room presence, especially bringing in the young guys (Leonard and Hutson both moving in with him and his wife).

McMichael was never a center in Washington unless there were injuries to other centers. He is a middle six winger with speed who is solid on both sides of the puck. Unspectacular at anything and terrible at finishing which is odd given he was known for that coming out of London. He's a good hockey player and strong depth but not someone who is going to drive offense for the team (at least he hasn't shown that yet).

I'm a big McMichael guy and sad to see him go. If we get 30G/70P Kyrou then I'm excited, if we get last year's Kyrou then this is a dud.

Also, McMichael needs a contract. He's an RFA and arbitration eligible. Washington's front office never seemed keen on extending him long term and he was rumored to be offered to a few teams including Winnipeg when they were shopping McGroaty, so it's not surprising that he moved. St. Louis must really like the player if they're willing to trade for him with no contract certainty.

Huge trades today. 1st round picks being moved all over the place.

Where have the insiders been? No word of warning on any of this stuff. Are they just totally out of the loop?

Good trade for both teams, but STL has to be happy with that return.

CMM is a solid middle six winger, a #16 ain't bad, and Gastrin has upside.
