And what are the reasons for those numbers? Do you have any credible links?

A Ben Shapiro apprentice is still going to pay to go watch his X-Men because he loves his superheroes more than he loves Ben Shapiro. Shapiro isn't his childhood nor is he part of the wider culture people want to participate in.

You don't seem to get what I am saying.

I don't get about the actual numbers themselves.

What are the reasons for the loss in numbers? Do you have any credible links?
Do you? I’d say these numbers are credible. Lots of factors may go into it but if the movies are flourishing everything else will fall into place. If the product sucks then the money goes down. Pretty simple but would you like me to confirm that with your boogeyman Ben Shapiro ?

By the way, what the hell is Disney fanatic.com?

I'm not the one going out and saying that woke politics are tanking numbers.

You did.

Do you have any credible links?
Credible in your eyes? Usually how these conversations go is I can provide some links and you in response will say “ well that’s not a credible source so you’re wrong “. Typical rinse and repeat

By the way, disneyfanatic.com is a website where contributors sign their article with only their first name (such as Sharon) with titles such as Is Taylor Swift Marvel’s New Hire? Rumors Say Yes!

Very professional stuff.
Are the numbers wrong?

So you don't have anything, do you?

Like I said, all you have is a hunch and your politics (which are interchangeable).

That's not enough and even if someone were to explain it to you, you wouldn't get it because you don't want to get it.

You might not be there but trust me, a lot of your buddies will be for the next Batman or whatever. Even if the movie takes a dump on them.

I grabbed the first two off google. So again I’ll ask you, are the numbers wrong?

Neither of these links (which are essentially the same, by the way) cite anything and just claim a loss of numbers (without defining what they mean by loss) and cite 'wokeness' without any sort of evidence.

Yeah, sounds about right for Megyn Kelly (who, ironically, flopped instantly when she tried broaden her audience) and Daily Mail.

I have no idea what Disney's real numbers are. Based on a quick search, it seems like the company is still turning a profit without hitting estimated targets.

Do you see that they lose major money outside the USA in other countries cause they won’t show Woke movies? There’s more to the bottom line than movies in America.

I show you numbers of major loses and you say “ I don’t know the real numbers and Disney is turning a profit”. Exactly how I figured this would go….

I'm talking about 2022. I haven't looked at 2023 and frankly, I don't give a shit about either years and whether Disney is actually losing money.

What I want you to show me is that Disney is losing money because of 'Wokeness'.

Can you do that or not?

If you didn’t read the whole articles just say so but why ask for links if you won’t read them through

I did read them. Not one of them showed how 'wokeness' tanked numbers.

Did you actually read the articles? Cite me one sentence that shows the correlation between numbers and 'wokeness'. Just one.
Countries refusing to show the movies because of the Woke agenda in them

Lightyear could not be shown in 14 Middle Eastern and Asian countries because of its depiction of a same-sex relationship. That also had an impact on its global box office performance.

And how much did they lose from that? The article doesn't cite a number at all. Doesn't say whether even the loss of those 14 countries (which Disney would have estimated/taken into account) could be offset elsewhere (toys, theme parks, merchandise, yadada), whether others factors could be taken into account, etc, etc.

The point is that the article just makes a statement but doesn't follow it up with...anything. Do you see how easy and lazy that is?

If a movie isn’t shown in a country because of a Woke script that is the definition of losing money because a movie is woke. What are you not understanding in that example? You asked for just one quote and I gave it to you but keep moving those goal posts. Better go see what CNN thinks about the topic….

And yet there's also a bunch of movies that don't get shown in other countries and are still profitable and smash hits. And they also have 'woke' stuff in them.

So what? Your article and the point they made sucks and falls apart at the slightest scrutiny. They did the same thing you did. State something without actually sourcing it.

In 2022, Disney's revenue increased 22% over 2021. Their EBITDA from their earnings report was 44% higher than in 2021. Revenue growth has continued into 2023, despite losing 4 million subscribers (95% of which came from losing the rights to Premier League cricket in India).

So much more goes into why a company would lose market value to the degree Disney did. Investors are worried they won't hit their revenue targets, but at least some of that is coming from a normal marketplace correction where Disney was inflated WAY above other competitors in the same markets.

Did they lose some viewers who are against the "woke" stuff they do? Probably, yes they did. They also lost some because they raised prices. None of that, by itself, is why Disney's market value took a step back. But don't conflate market value with profitability. The company still brings in a TON of revenue and is in the black. They are in no danger from anti-woke boycotts.
