Wright will be good but Slafkovsky will be better imo… I wonder, if Slaf played in the OHL how many goals would he get? Or if there was another half a season left to the draft, would Slaf be consensus 1st overall?
Slaf’s stock is definitely rising, while Wright is going downwards.
Sure Slaf didn’t get as many points as he should have, but what a beast the kid is… when he’s playing with confidence he’s unstoppable

I completely misread your reply. I don't get ads but don't tell anyone.

Yeah me neither, i have an adblocker actually. I was just having fun.

Sadly so do I. The stupid bastards don't realize I already have one. ;)

If only they got it right, cuz I'd rather get a Brazilian mail order bride.

Just don't tell that to my wife 🤣

This is where acquiring a guy like PLD could make lots of sense if they are targetting Slaf as there first round selection. I would still prefer Wrigth but if they feel Slaf is thebguy then they must find a way to fix this second line center spot!

Difficult to project his production in another league. We are starting from his stellar 5 goals in 33 games so double that over a full season then double it again because he is apparently a phenom and we end up with a whopping 20 goals....stop the presses!

If rumours are true and PLD really has his heart set on Montreal, I wouldn’t trade for him. Just wait two years and get him for free. We aren’t going to contend for the next two years, and there’s no point bringing him here to lose, get grilled by the media and end up being miserable.

To that end, I’d still draft Wright. If PLD comes here, he can play wing which he has done a lot of.

Draft Slafkovsky and sign PLD is the answer for those who don't want the pain of a rebuild, bring on the shortcuts.

And Liiga, is supposed to be a higher caliber than the juniors, playing with men, so we have a glimps of what he will look like in the AHL or NHL a bust, Wright dominated wherever he went, even his rookie year in the juniors.

He doesn't care, it's not his list. It's a poll ranking.
Isn’t his name on the list? The Bob Mackenzie list? I know I wouldn’t put my name on something I didn’t agree with. And who was polled exactly? What are the names of these scouts?

For me, there is no question. Wright is the BEST center of this draft. And our middle needs more high-caliber/high-quality centermen. A Suzuki-Wright-Dvorak-Evans middle line is getting pretty close to a contender.

Why really do I say there is no question around whom to pick? Is Slafkovsky really the BEST W of this draft? Can we fanthom grabbing a similar player with our 26th pick? Could we draft up to better lock a W?

Slafkovsky is a great prospect, no doubt. I'd love for us to draft him. But there are plenty other quality W or C prospects. Slaf is a great raw package, but not clearly above any other similar prospects. Which is the opposite in regards to Wright and his comparables.

It was mentioned on NHL network radio - i listen all day thru syrius.

The current odds are -$450 on Wright selected #1. I think that is more telling, since it takes speculation completely out of the mix.
Exactly, people who have money invested know the truth. Bob Mackenzie and his “scouts” are Toronto Maple Leafs fans, they are very very worried that we select Shane Wright and shut down their fake dynasty hopes. Leafs are cooked. Beautiful.

It will be Wright!

The kid has been captain all over he stepped in and they try to make me believe he's lazy and lackadaisical?

Get out of here!

Best case scenario is Hughes manage to do some magic getting 2nd OA from Jersey and we get both Slaf and Wright but Slaf is defenitely Hughes 1st choice IMO.

10 scouts. Doesn't give their names. Tries to keep same ones for consistency year in year out but there is occasional turnover. They wouldn't do it if he outted who they work for lol.
Simple really. He started doing this before his TSN gig ( at hockey news i think) but it has grown in scope and popularity. He fully admits it is just a consensus of 10 hockey peoples rankings.
5 had Slaf #1, I think 4 had Wrght #1, 1 had Cooley in the last rankings. Wright was far n away tips thru the year. He polls them 3/4 times a year and makes it public.
Makar year, 1 scout had him #1 n no one else had him top 2.....Let's find that scout n get them on the Habs payroll lol..
