Lecavalier is involved because he was the 1 overall. He's got perspective on what it takes to survive and thrive in that pressure.

MSL obviously needs to know if they can learn, grow in his system fit what they are building.

Of course they are involved.
I could see MSL and Vinny seeing a bit of Brad Richards in Wright.

If we made this thread after bobs ranking you’d see a much tighter result. Most people just voted Wright because they thought he was consensus 1st overall. Clearly, mostly everyone knows now that isn’t the case thanks to Bob Mac.
Bobby mac is just compiling data from some scouts. He is no God.

I just asked him. He said it was pretty real.
No, everything is a “Conspiracy Theory”

Conspiracies have NEVER existed.

I don't think Hughes will put as much stock in a couple of tournaments over the detailed scouting and vetting Shane Wright has gone through.
I am back in forth with who to pick as I am sure many on this site are.
All of us are arm chair amateurs and my status as an experienced amateur is they will go with Shane Wright.

Fast forward 3 years from now and we will all be saying- Damn we should have picked Nemec 😁

I’m a big Nemec fan after watching everything I could find on him in the last few days. He moves the puck so well, reminds me of a young Subban but looks even better. I would trade our 2023 1st to get Nemec right now without hesitation.

*NHL team scouts. Including at least one head scout. Oh and he hasn’t picked 1st overall wrong since 2009 I think.

It’s not just any other run of the mill scouting agency list. It’ gives us the best POV on how actual NHL teams are ranking some of these prospects.

Yes and he also added it's pretty much a split between the two, that Slaf's size came up as a major reason for putting him first by the few who did and that both were seen as future 2nd liners.

Also, they have always got #1 right because it's usually close to unanimous, while such a tight finish has only happened once.

Unless one of those scouts is employed by the Montreal Canadiens...Bob MacKenzie's list is just anectodal.

Doesn't mean anything or have any influence on who the Habs will pick.

Button's #1 has been right since he make his list too and for him Wright is #1 and it's not even disputable.

And Button talks to NHL scouts too.

to be fair, if Toronto had the first pick I believe it would be Wright by a mile across all the TSN/Sportsnet fan club.
100% truth. All this noise is because it’s Montreal picking first. Leafs fans are PRAYING we don’t take Wright. The Leafs can’t even handle Suzuki in the playoffs, their fake dynasty is toast the minute we draft Wright. Bob Mackenzie and his “scouts” are Leafs fans, that says it all. Every casino in the world has Wright as a heavy favourite.

Maybe MSL and Lecavalier had the same kinda talk with the other players they are considered? So they can have a feeling on each of the players so they can discuss better with the scouting teams and Hughes, Gorton.
Yeah maybe but we have no reports of that. But we do have some for Wright. So we will see.

Personally I think Cooley may be the draft gem anyways, I would hate to have my job on the line this year in the scouting department.
