Confirmed Trade: [WPG/MTL] Sean Monahan for 2024 1st round pick and conditional 2027 3rd round pick (Mod warning OP)

Montreal's second in 24 ended up in Winnipeg via la via Arizona thru the Dvorak trade?

Jets fans if you're still interested in dvo like you were this summer I'd let him go only for our second in return

If Monahan can remain healthy, you Jets fans will like him. I really like the way Monahan played for the Habs. If he played the way in Winnipeg, your team will greatly improved.

1) Jets got a good player

Monahan is better than what the fans of this site thinks he is (outside of Habs and some flames fans). He can still produce many points. Habs fans and players are sad to see him go.

2) Most of HF was wrong since October

There has been many threads on the value of Monahan and in everyone most of other fanbases didn't take Habs fans seriously when we said we'd get a 1st. And that was as early as october.

Let us have our small victory through this tough rebuild.

3) Hughes has to be considered a good GM now

HIs handling of Monahan from taking advantage of the Flames situation to re-signing him cheap to get a second 1st is great GMing. I also like the fact that he trades his late 1sts/2nds to get some young good players (Dach, Newhook).
 
Jets late 1st round pick won't help them this year or even the next 4 years. The pick if the Jets kept it most likely will be bottom pairing D or bottom 5 players OR not play at all. Maybe they hit a homerun with that pick, that is highly unlikely.
In 4 years Schiefele and Helly will not be on their prime anymore. That late pick won't make a difference, Jets need to make their team as deep as possibly now, to try to win the cup this year.
hopefully Jets can grab a top 4 Dman still...

There are so many of them that said that and vehemently argued over it, absolutely embarrassing lack of thinking skills.

Exactly zero of them will come and post otherwise about it. Cowards.

100% makes sense for the Jets to do that kind of move with how they're playing this year. Some of you seem disappointed of the player you got, but he's very good.

As for the pick, I'll be cheering for you guys to lose in the 1st round to maximize it's value (sorry). I imagine Hughes will perform his magic and flip it for a roster player.

To be fair, he HAS been injured a lot.

However, i've also been called delusional haha. The best one i got in this case was that I "make shit up to win make-believe trades" (though i always have numbers to back what i say up, and that time were simple numbers from NHL.com).
 
Question for Jets fans, would you have paid this for Henrique? Would you have preferred Henrique over Monahan?
 
I wish we had kept Monahan now. Habs just playing out the string, next 3 months crappy hockey.

Had 3-4 days to think it over. Lousy late first hardly return anything.

They probably have no intentions of dealing that pick before the TDL. They’ll gladly use it at the draft or if all things fall into place then Montreal gets it.

Dvorak has been underwhelming from the start.... at best the Habs can hope for a 2nd as a rental for him in a year, but for that he'd need to be healthy, whereas he's now had 2 consecutive seasons where he got knocked out for the year well before the deadline.

I was thinking that either one could have been had with our 2nd round Montreal pick plus a small add. I was firmly on the Henrique bandwagon and in the No Monahans Club. Henrique has more experience and ive always liked his game over the years. Having said that ive warmed up to Monahan. I think his net front presence will be a big plus for us. We dont have a lot of guys who like to sit in front of the net and get the grimy goals. He also seems like a very likeable guy who will fit right in. Excited to see what he can do tomorrow between Perfetti and Ehlers.

MTL played the Monahan situation perfectly. Got a first rounder for taking him on and then artificially upped his value with good usage to get another first rounder out of him

Pasta and Frederic were picked late in the first round.🤣 1st round picks are gold. You can hit like a 70 percent chance the player will be a nhler.

Monahan hit the lottery he went from playing with black holes like Gallagher and Anderson to playing with Ehlers and Perfetti you guys will like him if he can stay healthy

I’m sure that the Canadians management will use these 2 free bullets to shoot them selves in both of their left feet again and pick what they perceive to be the 2 best Francophones in the Q… junior league.

The Habs literally and I mean literally have not done in almost 15 years. The local media criticizes them every year for not picking enough guys from the Q...

dont see what "francophones" you are talking about but our picks have been fine so far under new management

late 1st Filip Mesar = over ppg in the CHL
early 2nd Owen Beck = over ppg in the CHL
late 2nd Lane Hutson = dominating NCAA
early 3rd Jacob Fowler = One of the best goalies in the NCAA
