Will he play behind Namestnikov ? Jets fans told me that he was better than Monahan.
Monahan has yet to play a game with the Jets so the jury is still out.

Namestnikov may very well be the better fit, and overall better player given his high hockey IQ, speed, tenacity and defensive game. I hope not, as I really want Monahan to be a perfect fit. With that said, full credit to Namestnikov and what he has provided to the Jets this far.

They are starting him on the 2nd that's correct. It could be because they think with better wingers his offensive game will be better. At ES Names was out producing him, but maybe they're thinking with better wingers his ES scoring will improve. We'll have to see.
They also might think that if they need to move one of the two off the second line to play down the lineup that Names might be the better option to do that.
They'll likely tinker with the lines a few times between now and the end of the season.

Monahan has a high hockey IQ too, he's always in the right place, he's better than Namestnikov offensively and he's not a liability in his own end.

Monahan was playing with Anderson and Gallagher, you can't produce with these guys...

I hope so. Like I said though, the jury is still out on that. How about we let their play do the talking instead?

As shown a number of times already, it does not work that way...
It depends who they're facing. Picks don't change order til the conference finals but a team lower than Winnipeg making it to the conference finals makes the pick earlier. For example if they won the presidents trophy and lost in the first round it would be guaranteed to be pick 28 since every conference finals team would be below them.

Going out first round is still optimal for the chances of a lower seeded team to make it to the conference finals and move the pick up 1-2 spots.

Unless, as he has done twice already (Dach, Newhook), Hughes uses it to get an under-control young player...
That's sort of what I was hoping the Jets would do.

A) Depth pieces for underrated depth (Niederreiter and Names were both cheap to acquire and have been very good additions)
B) 1st round pick(s) and/or good prospects for the longer term. (I posted earlier about how the Jets twice spent at the TD on rentals when maybe spending once on a long term fit would have been better?).
C) 1st or equivalent on a rental (not my preferred of the 3 for sure. Have to hope it works out)

There might not have been options at centre for option A, and options for B can sometimes be hard to anticipate so the Jets probably jumped to C especially after Lindholm was traded.

100% makes sense for the Jets to do that kind of move with how they're playing this year. Some of you seem disappointed of the player you got, but he's very good.

As for the pick, I'll be cheering for you guys to lose in the 1st round to maximize it's value (sorry). I imagine Hughes will perform his magic and flip it for a roster player.
That’s okay we are cheering you to lose so our 2nd is higher.

How many wins do you have coaching in the NHL?

No need to respond, I already know the answer.

So because you're not a chef you can't taste the difference between shit and carrots. Good to know.

If only there was more to the decision than ES points.

Ok we are demoting the better physical and defenseive players for a PP specialist as well.

I mean, Monahan is a very very good player. This isn't really a debate who is better between him and Names.

dont see what "francophones" you are talking about but our picks have been fine so far under new management

late 1st Filip Mesar = over ppg in the CHL
early 2nd Owen Beck = over ppg in the CHL
late 2nd Lane Hutson = dominating NCAA
early 3rd Jacob Fowler = One of the best goalies in the NCAA
Current management has picked 2 guys from the QMJHL, in the 4th and 7th rounds, out of 20 players picked.
