Good. Maybe they tank harder into a better lottery pick position. This season was over when Dach was injured.
Still, it's hard for competitive players to lose constantly, and it becomes ingrained in team culture. Edmonton needed McDavid for a few years to get out of that mindset, and teams like Ottawa and Buffalo aren't progressing in part because of years of losing. You don't want to get stuck there.

Well, there weren't a lot of those reasonable fans on the main boards, I can tell you that. And being accepting of a trade after it happens is easy enough, for a fan.
From a Jets perspective, he plays the type of game Bowness likes (defence first, wins puck battles, etc.). In my opinion he was the perfect fit for Winnipeg's system.

Before the TD, other teams fans about:

Chiarot: a 1st? You habs fans are so delusional...

Lehkonen: come on! No more than a 3rd, max... you delusional

Kulak: if you get a 4th-5th Rd pick for him, you guys are lucky... delusional

Monahan: no team's gonna pay a first for him. He's made of glass, can't play defense, is producing only on the PP and he's ineffective on the forecheck (??!??🤔)...
you're delusional

HABS FANS DELUSIONAL!! HABS FANS DELUSIONAL!! HABS FANS DELUSIONAL!!

HABS FANS AFTER THE TD: 😏😁😎

If you're going to be fair and reasonable, please spend more time on the main boards !

Im not salty at all. I like the trade and its probably close to being fair value for Monahan. We spent the last 3 drafts replenishing our prospect pipeline and with our current form its time to make a move again.

You fanbase seems to be in a bubble of that doing nothing but acquiring draft picks is the best thing ever mode.

I don't think Montreal has been the same since Price left and I don't think they will get out of no man's land for a long long time. If I am wrong I will eat crow but I think Dach is damaged goods with his injury history and I don't care for there amateur scouting. Time will tell.
Is your head buried in the sand? Habs have been trading picks for young players with potential (Dach / Newhook) rather than consistently drafting with the draft picks.

Like a Cake Walk, there aren't enough Cakes, which GM will now panic a pay a premium to get: Adam Henrique.

Bets on the Rangers or Boston.

The Jets had a need and filled it. It cost them between 25th and 32nd overall. As far as his production, he'll now have Ehlers and Perffetti on his wings. That makes a bi g difference. As far as him getting alot of points on the PP, the Jets need help there more than anything.
Love the trade.
And if Hab fans like it, great.

They are delusional in general

On the one hand, nothing is more overrated on HF than the value of LATE first round picks.

On the other hand, I wouldnt want to trade it for Monahan because he’s whack
If late first round picks are so overrated, then why was HFBoards so adamant that Money couldn't get one in return?

Now do Savard for a first
Hopefully he stays healthy since he's been taking therapy days instead of practice days lately.

The only thing that will make this home run even better is if Monahan signs at the end of the season for 4x4.

Despite the renown HF experts who never fail to be wrong, Monahan is a solid 2C on most teams and for us, an absolute necessity until we have more young center depth.

People are complimenting Cheveldayoff for this?

He gave up a 1st and 3rd for a guy who's pacing for 60 points. That's awful. Shades of Zito trading a 1st for Chiarot.

Holy, Montreal making out like bandits. This is some next-level found money for them. Is the market for centers that bad? Did Allvin set an explosive precedent with the Lindholm trade? Were there so many suitors that the price was driven that high? What the hell is going on with this deal????

The cope is powerful here.

What next, it's a weak draft ?
I just tripled the price on a barrel of copium. Hey, I'm a businessman!!!

I would of preffered a top center prospect even if we had to add a bit. That was a bridge too far because that trade would be more of a desperation TD trade. On the other hand, maybe this 1st shakes out players like Pinto or other youngsters.
