Doubting the judgement of the jets pro scouts and management
So not looking inward then?
Cool cool cool.
Doubting the judgement of the jets pro scouts and management
I think people are forgetting about how little cap space this move costs the Jets, who still have room to make more deadline moves.
GMs do actuallyAlso, HFBoards continues to overvalue late 1st round picks more than almost anything else in hockey.
What are you on about? I have no problem discussing it and absolutely no problem with Hans fans discussing it. As a Jets fan I think what the Jets gave up is just the normal price to acquire a 2c, especially in a year with very little centres available and a lot of teams looking for one. Its called supply and demand.Errrrr, that's odd. That's what were were doing. Speculating and giving our opinion. But we were called delusional, mocked incessantly, flamed non-stop, and told very sternly that we're dreaming if we think Monahan was worth a 1st. So, where were you to say the same in our defense before today? Riiiiiiight, nowhere to be found. Now you don't like us discussing this, eh?![]()
This might be one of the worst over-priced move i can think of in a long time.
THANK GOD this trade happened after Lindholm was already acquired by the Canucks.
If this trade happened before Lindholms and it was the market setter, then Lindholm would have astronomically returned more.
Not only is it an over-payment, the Jets are over-paying for the wrong player, one of which has had major major injury concerns.
I am very surprised with your statement. Monahan has been one of our best player. He has played with AHL caliber players and he scored almost as much as Suzuki.I watched virtually every single game Sean Monahan played as a Montreal Canadien and I absolutely would not have surrendered a 1st round pick to acquire him.
well at least we can end all the talk of an A or B level prospect being included for Monahan just because.
Way to turn a cap dump we already got a 1st for to another 1st lol
good trade for Montreal
the consensus here was Monahan would never fetch a first and when he did, a late first is now irrelevant, these boards sometimes
In the other hand, If Monahan stays healthy he will prove to be very helpful for the jets

1st round picks are currency. Winnipeg could have spent their currency on a better player
60 points is stretching it. Monahan career's average over 82 games is 57 points. So in a normal season where the player miss a few games he's more a 50 to 55 points player. Still 55 points player both in regular season and in playoffs are pretty much never available for a 2nd round pick. They are and they do. But IMO everything goes out the window if it concerns Habs players. They're all scraps, bums and overrated, don't you know? To think, a ridiculous number of them said Monahan was worth no more than a late 2nd, and reluctantly at that. Like there are tons of 60pt centers, great at faceoffs available for a 3rd round pick.
I said he was worth a 2nd rounder, maybe a bit more. But thought a 1st rounder would only happen if the GM buying him was desperate.
Looks like I was wrong.
Good of you not to be a prick about it. I can see why your fanbase is so well liked.

The 3rd is conditional to winning the cup…If a secondary piece like Monahan gets you a 1st and a conditional 3rd in this market, what does that make top 4 dmen like Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin worth?
Crazy.. just crazy.
I'm glad this didn't cost one of the Jets top 5 prospects like some said. haha
No body cares about the conditional pick.Very good asset management by Montreal, however if the condition for the extra pick is a 3rd four drafts from now if the Jets win the cup, it’s essentially Monahan for a 1st. Four years+development time might as well be a lifetime in sports, assuming that pick even turns into something useful.
Monahan is not the center I would have targeted for a playoff run jets gave up a first for an early exit Monahan is slow and never was that good at defense he will pot some goals but provides not much else except good on special teams I guess... And you don't need to look inward to realize habs absolutely got a steal that's why habs fans are happy you got the best outcome and it's not like Chevy is some sort of trade stalwartSo not looking inward then?
Cool cool cool.
You guys have an embarrassment of riches up front.
