One thing most of the players seem to agree on is the food scene here. I think it's pretty underrated in this country.

It def is. In terms of "homestyle" foods from all over the world, which is excellent and at reasonable prices, WPG is pretty hard to beat, and it has some some ace restos also that compete very well with bigger cities, plus some terrific delis and regional supermarkets.

We spend around 3x what we used to on going out to eat here near London and it's often not as good, especially when it comes to East Asian and African cuisines.

With the insane returns guys like Jeannot are getting... one must wonder how and why the market for Nino was so bad that the best he could fetch was a 2nd.

Agreed. Samberg is developing into an top end defensive defenseman... like a younger Brendon Dillon... it remains to be seen if he can handle an increased role but in his role he has been nothing short of a revelation and one of the Jets few bright spots in drafting D outside the 1st round.

Guys like Jeannot or just Jeannot? Is it possible Jeannot is an outlier and not an example of the market?

I really found the timing of this move interesting.

Poile does a favor just before saying peace out?
Trotz negotiating a deal for Jets after their whole ordeal last summer? Lol

Also wish Nino would share those recommendations!

We some body-language experts here to weigh in on this new arrival: what are El Nino's levels of joy, angst, anticipation, regret? What's over/under on locker-room toxicity risk, teambuilding potential, favourite Celine Dion number, etc, etc.

Does he have what it takes to be our saviour? C'mon Jets fans -- the guy's been in town for hours already!
El Niño could be our dark horse..

Preds are a hair behind us for the final wild card spot, so they give us Nino. They might make the post season in spite of their deadline moves.

Absolutely right. He’s the hockey version of a Swiss Army Knife, or a Leatherman Crunch..
One other thing, he seems to have the respect of the whole team and gets the talk going during and between plays, seems to be just the spark plug we may have been missing.
I’m looking to see how we keep this improved esprit de corps airborne for the next three periods.

The Avalanche meets the WhiteOut..
I’m a little worried with the Chronicles of Rittich in net, but if team energy is up and the forwards all backcheck, (or even pokecheck) we won’t need avalanche beacons.

This was definitely a great add by Chevy. A 2nd round pick isn't bad value for Nino as a pending UFA, but getting him for another full year on top of that is very good value IMO.

Shifting Scheifele to 1RW, and bumping Nino down to 3rd line has all of a sudden given us better balance.
