Would it have been a better option to drop team Europe put 2-3 countries together?

Maybe it should have been Team EMEA instead, adding talent from China, Japan, Saudi Arabia... (They play hockey in Australia?)
 
The treatment of Team Europe is downright embarrassing.

They'll play both anthems for Team North America.

Team Europe doesn't get an anthem at all.

And you wonder why they looked listless and disinterested against Team NA last night.

It's disturbing to witness the degree to which people have now been pacified by the NHL's gimmick teams and are actually thinking in terms of replacing those teams with other gimmicks.

Bettman must be laughing his head off.

They will play both anthems for Team NA and, at the same time, wanted to make up some fake anthem for Team Europe? Jesus.. It's like this tournament only exists to deliberately **** on the players as much as possible just to find out how much they'll put up with.

Fairly certain that over 3/4ths of the population is in the European part of Russia.

It was the players who said they wanted no anthem.

Because they wouldn't have gotten real their anthems . Just some random meaningless song that would've been created just for this World Cup . Which was just a stupid idea.
 
I also feel bad for them. Actually feel surprised those players decided to play for team europe as it's embarrassing on multiple levels. The anthems was making me cringe, honestly should be no anthems in any game that team europe is playing, they have a terrible designed logo and jerseys and they are old. I doubt they'll even win 1 game in the tourney.
 
you're always going to have at least one wildly outmatched team in these kinds of tournaments.

Hard not to feel sorry for Team Pity.

The players don't seem to want to be there, aren't playing for anything, feel insulted that their real teams are excluded, and mustn't relish the chance of injury for such a pointless cause.

They go 0-3
 
Felt bad for Zucs and Kopitar yesterday, they were the only ones really trying. They shouldn't have created a European team, I know Kopitar wasn't happy about the format when it was announced.

A guy like Zuccarello has lived in Sweden for many years, played in that league and pretty sure he has more in common etc with Sweden than any other European country. Same for the Slovanian and Slovak players when it comes to Czech i would think.

I understand its not ideal but Team Europe is just extremely weak and its almost unfair....

Kopitar played in Sweden growing up and he can speak Swedish too.

Keep in mind at first it was expected the cup was going to be 6 teams its not like European teams were dropped.
