None. Because being an Oiler fan for my whole life has made me reel in expectations.

Oh and the History of Hockey voting committee said that McDavid is the 130th best player of all time two years ago. I know it’s not my bad take but that one is hilarious to look back at.

I'm not part of that club but don't they rate things as they are and not what they will likely be? I think everyone knows McDavid will be the third best forward of all time. It's just that he has to actually do it before we can rate him that high.

My bad take was thinking Myers was going to be the next great canadian defenseman. I put him on my 2014 olympics team. I just thought he could skate so well and be that big he was awesome.

Now he is on my Canucks and I wonder wtf. What happened between his rookie season and now? Is he ok? Did somebody steal that talent?

I was really high on Jack Quinn in 2020. I don't think that's the bad take, as I am still content with how he is progressing and I think he will be a stud in his prime. What I am wrong for is having him ranked over Tim Stutzle. Absolutely ridiculous decision on my part. Sometimes, you just get too enamored with a player and kind of forget to be a bit more rational sometimes. Terrible take then, terrible take now, lesson learned.

My worst one definitely was Kakko. Didn't meet my expectations at all. Honestly, I didn't expect at all that he was going to play as timid as he had. I thought he would have the kind of a gritty attitude I thought he displayed in Liiga, but guess not. That definitely was a bad take, at least so far.

My other takes have at least been looking pretty good. I had Stützle first overall for 2020, and was meh on both Lafreniere and Byfield - those look to be coming along pretty well. The other significant ones were that I was low on Podkolzin and Slafkovsky, and both are looking like good takes thus far. Then when we add being higher than the consensus on Seider and Kaliyev, my takes have actually been going really well lately - and Hutson's looking pretty good, another one I really liked before the draft. So I guess those are making up for that miss somewhat.

My personal lowest point, which I never said in these forums tho, was when I first saw Ryan Spooner move on the ice and I thought „wow, this kid is sort of a Kessel lite. This is going to be good.“ I was thinking he‘d become a perennial 25-30 goals, 70 points dude.

I thought Turcotte was going to become top 2 in his draft. Not the worst take I've had, but it's pretty recent one.

I may have been trolling harder than I care to admit but I told KaprisovSaveUs that Ian Mitchell was a better prospect than Kaprisov.

I looked through my old posts, and it appears I was in favor of a hypothetical Jake McCabe trade to Pittsburgh for Conor Sheary because the Sabres had Brendan Guhle and Lawrence Pilut in the pipeline. There's some layers to that one.

I thought Nikita Gusev was going to succeed in the NHL. Always liked him as a player and maybe he would have done well had he been in a different situation.

I thought Michael Grabner would have a huge bounceback when Toronto acquired him, and predicted he would lead the team in goals... He got 9 that year.

I thought Chicago was stupid for letting Martin Havlat walk, just to give big money to Marian Hossa. Havlat went on to bounce around while battling injuries, while Hossa was a main piece for 3 Cup wins.

I thought Toronto should re-sign Jack Campbell for whatever he was asking for. I said at the time that I would have matched the Edmonton offer in a heartbeat.

I really liked each trade when Toronto acquired Tomas Plekanec and Nick Foligno. In their own time, I said each guy was a vet leader who would push the team deep in the playoffs. I believed hard. They were both duds who added nothing while the team lost in round 1.

That was my worst take, that's why I asked where the OTHER people were that said that. Because it was like 50% of these boards, just surprised no one else mentioned it yet.
Not even just these boards, but that was a pretty widespread belief among the hockey media for a while too, before Crosby won 2 more cups and Toews kind of declined

I suggested the Oilers Trade the 2014 and 2015 first rounders for Pekka Rinne and got shit on for it not being enough

As a Wing fan I didn't and still don't like the Hasek trade. Completely unnecessary and paid for it with the goalie gongshow with Dom retiring, signing Cujo, Dom unretiring, etc... the following 3 seasons. Would have been better off just keeping Osgood and riding through. He was good enough to win with those rosters as evident in '98 and '08...

We were warned by Flyers fans about him, but at the time, I thought that the Pen's hiring Hextall as GM was a good move.

Flyers fans were right.

3 takes come to mind.

1. Bruins would miss the playoffs last year. They not only made it to the playoffs, but they also had the greatest regular season of all time.

2. I thought Pittsburgh trading for Kessel was a mistake, that he was too soft for them to succeed in the playoffs. That one aged terribly.

3. I thought Burakovsky would turn out to be better than Zibanejad.

Ill let you know when I have one.

But seriously Im sure I have plenty I forget but 1 of my early ones was I thought Klesla would become what Weber eventually became. He along with Nash are the main reasons I became a Blue Jacket fan
Came here to post that I'm sure I've had one and probably many but jsut can't think of it right now.

Also not sure if I posted it here or not but I thought Kesler was very overated and would be a 3rd liner man was I completely wrong about that one.

Something about McAvoy being ponchy and a 3rd pair D after he was drafted.

I also thought Dennis Cholowski was going to be a really good smooth skating defenseman with a great pass, like a legit 2-3.
