Galchenyuk will have a breakout year

In Montreal it depends how coaching staff uses them, but I think Armia and Sherbak have a chance to shine on the top 6

That was from Sept 2018... Galch was traded to Arizona and his career went downhill from here

FWIW, I think at some point you might have to blame Lafreniere's performance thusfar on NYR's development.

They seem along the same lines as Montreal and Edmonton where you draft a high profile prospect and just assume they're ready to go and throw them in the deep end immediately.

I thought Austin Czarnik would be a good top 6er for Calgary.

Flames would be a cup contender this year
I loved Austin Czarnik when he was at Miami, I always thought he had what it takes to be a great player. Think he's just too small to be useful in the bottom 6, but not quite good enough to be in the top 6. I was so sure he was going to make it, but at least him being a top AHL scorer shows I was kinda right...

My worst takes are around Nikita Filatov- man I was excited for that guy.

Oh, I seem to recall that I assumed the Tkachuk bros were just recognizable hockey names but would probably be pretty decent middle 6ers...

Then through interviews I found out how they literally grew up and treat hockey like a job, family business and take the professionalism to the next level and Brady didn't bust like the Alex Nylander to William Nylander concern I had.

Five years later, Galchy still has potential of breaking out... Just not in hockey.

Rod Brind'Amour would be a terrible head coach.

The Hurricanes would become a playoff contender throughout the 2010s.

It would take a couple of years (4-ish) for the Knights and Seattle to qualify for the playoffs at best.

I'll go with some positives I was wrong about...

I was livid when Detroit took Seider with Cozens and Zegras still on the board. (No disrespect to those two)

I thought Tyler Bertuzzi was a shit pick made because of his relation to Todd.

In similar fashion, I thought Carter Mazur was a shit pick made because he played with Draper's kid. (Granted, this hasn't come to fruition yet, but he's a solid prospect whose play style appears 100% translatable to the NHL)

My detractors would say all of them, I've strangely built up a hate following that tells me I'm the worst poster on the site just for my normal posting, so *shrug*

Don’t know if I said it in the site but I definitely thought Laine will > Matthews in scoring.

I was disappointed we didn't sign Jack Campbell and felt pretty confident he was going to turn his game around in Edmonton.

I thought MacKinnon was overrated a few years back and that Barkov was better.

But that’s it, literally the only wrong take ive ever had so be thankful I’ve admitted to it.

I remember stating that Evgeni Malkin would never score 50 goals after his rookie season. Not sure why I doubted such an elite level talent.
I was also convinced that Tim Erixon and Sven Baertschi would become impact NHL players.

I am sure there are plenty of other's.

I thought Drouin would be good in MTL.

I was not that impressed by Kucherov in junior even if I saw him live a lot. Probably my worst miss. Never thought he would destroy the NHL like that.

I thought Ty Smith was a better player than K Miller ( after Smiths rookie season) . I thought Smith would out produce Miller ….. I knew better but I was way too biased. Anine could see that Miller has way more athletic ability and was miles more mobile and a better skater. That and Smith played heavily sheltered minutes , fed O zone starts , had poor footspeed (but good edge work).

I was 100% certain that Rundblad would become the next Erik Karlsson

I wasted some VERY high picks in some hockey pools on him when he was lighting it up in Europe

I was sure Jani Rita would become a sure-fire NHLer and that Tony Salmelainen would go home crying. Neither really made it, but Tony was way closer. It made no sense to me as Rita's play and body seemed more compatible. Salmelainen upped his intensity level and was the better player.

I mean, he only scored 50 once, and it was dead on the nose.

... But he's also missed a decent chunk of games in multiple seasons.

A lot of people had this opinion after Maatta’s rookie season and I think it was justified. His health detailed his career in my opinion.
Haven’t read all five pages so not sure if anyone else responded but I actually don’t think this was an awful take. He looked like a star in the making but I think injuries really took their toll on him if I recall correctly?
Yes, he had some injuries as well as a thyroid cancer situation.

He also had to do 6 months of mandatory military service, which I believe he split into two 3-month spans over two offseasons. I think that these times also somewhat hampered his development, as he went a few year span during crucial development years where he was not able to get a full uninterrupted offseason.
