Worse NHL olympics ever?

Except Canada didn't trap anyone. They dominated the puck all over the ice. I don't think I've ever seen a team have more offensive zone time than Canada did in this tournament.

This is the most dominant a team has been in Olympics. I guess you can say it was a bit boring because no one other than Latvia was even close.

If you had told me that at the beginning of the tournament I would've....

The reality is, poor ice was the determining factor in how these games were played. Any game that had any real creativity was the first game of the day in Bolshoy or was in Shayba. Bolshoy was not up to the challenge of multiple games in one day.

i peronally didnt enjoy the whole tourny.
even the players celebration was like meh....

it doesnt help that i havent slept.
i still want NHL players in the Olympics, but not the most exiting tournament. (2014)

Whether it's the big ice, Canada's dominance, Sweden's passive style, injuries etc. but my god, this final is like NHL pre-season game in terms of entertainment. If you didn't know this was the final game, you most certainly couldn't tell it by watching. Pretty much zero effort, activity etc.

Perhaps a fitting end to a very underwhelming Olympics hockey tournament.

Vancouver 2010 was dynamite from start to finish, Torino 2006 was a nail-biter with huge emotional load, Salt Lake City was great, Nagano 1998 was brilliant...Sotschi 2014...Meh.

Ye it was boring as ****, afternoon game instead of night. Canada shutting down Swedens offensive totally, without swedes every adapting successfully. Loads of giveaways from sweden was the result, which lead to 2 goals for Canada.

lol at canadians hyped over this . do you realize that hockey players in US are subpart atethles ?
just imagine if hockey would be the most popular sport in us :

Peterson-Woods-Lebron James
Brady-Watt
Wilfork

This is the most ridiculous statement ever. Sour grapes much.

Have to agree it was boring. The girls hockey was fun to watch, and the 2010 Olympic final was very exciting. This one, not so much. Glad Canada won but it was a snorefest. Almost sorry I got up for it.

Hopefully most here agree with you

Sadly most around here do not understand hockey well enough to appreciate it in any form

How people can say hockey is boring and call themselves a real fan is beyond me, but to call championship, gold medal, or stanley cup final hockey boring as has been the case plenty around here.....yea there are plenty of hockey fans.....more like puck following fans

The 1998 final was a snorer.

WTF? You didn't watch the game, just admit it.

You can say it wasn't entertaining...but no effort?

Compared to previous finals no, this one had pretty much zero effort in comparison.

Hilarious attempt to undermine Canada's dominating performance in this one that was all about effort.

Come on Canadians, no need for that insecurity here. Nobody's bashing Team Canada which was hands down the best team in the tournament, no other team deserved to win the gold.

This is *NOT* a bash against Team Canada or Canada's gold, it's about the whole tournament.

I've never seen FIN-SWE olympic game that passive either, it's not about Canada but the whole games.

Once Sweden and Finland get decimated by injuries the tournament was over.

To a point. Stamkos, Tavares and Giroux are comparable to Zetterberg, H. Sedin and Backstrom and better than Koivu, Koivu, Filpulla and Barkov, but Canada has more depth to deal with those injuries (or 'snubs'), so the players brought in as replacement are much better for Canada.

Minus the injuries, I don't think Canada losing to either Finland or Sweden (or the US) would be an upset per se, but factoring in the injuries there were, it would have been considered a choke IMO.

On a sidenote, no one is trying to take away your gold medal Canada, but you have to admit. These games were a lot more dry. What I don't understand is why we don't give better teams harder schedules. Competition is really starting to become a big issue and no it isn't necessarily because "yew are tew gewd." I didn't particularly enjoy watching the US thrash Slovenia. Some sort of realignment has to be done, because I really am starting to dislike the olympics and the only people who like it are the winners.

Well some of the problems are with the qualifying tournaments. Some of these smaller hockey market countries just can't get their best players released to play in the qualifiers. I don't think the schedule or matchups were the problem though. We don't want to exclude the weaker countries, because they will never grow their program if we do that.

This not trying to be cocky but it's true. never been a better team defensively.

The only roster that could have challenged Canada is Canada 2. Not cocky, just realistic. There is no way Canada 1 would sweep Canada 2 in a best of 7. They would handily sweep Sweden though, it should have been much worse than 3-0 today.

You can tell the players don't care that much, the reaction to winning the gold is nothing compared to winning the cup.

It felt kind of boring because Canada didn't have to fight for it like the women did. This team was just too dominant.

Only allowed 3 goals throughout the Olympics, a couple of which could be considered a little flukey.
Never at any point did this team even play from behind.

Can't believe I doubted this team after the Norway game and even a little after the Finland/Latvia games.
Once I was able to sit back and just appreciate what they were doing instead of focusing on what they weren't, it was just beautiful to watch.
